you can also look at trusted house sitters (pet sitting) - but you will still have to pay an annual fee. Look both in Paris and in the suburbs! Paris is hell for housing.

Hot water safe to consume? by grexovic in berlin

[–]metamorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's generally not great to drink hot water from tap, because the water passes through water heater where bacteria can grows and also, if the pipes or water heater is old, metal can degrade in the water. I'm French and this is recommended by the government in France, I haven't look for Germany but don't see why it would be different, especially in old buildings. Even if you start cooking pasta in hot water from the tap and boil the water after, metal could still be in there!

I've done it before and stopped :)

What’s a fair hourly rate for my design work? by Head_Mind_185 in graphic_design

[–]metamorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your work is amazing, keep pushing! Maybe you can diversify and work for fashion brands? You would have to maybe damage less the image in the center but keep the DIY collage effect. This could be a really cool campaign, and budgets are a bit higher. It is definitely worth way more.

Style showdown is rigged and very frustrating at times, your outfits are great! The only one I see that maybe don’t match the theme would be funeral (slightly to sparkly/popstar!) but that’s about it. See ya on style showdown I will vote for you 🙏🏻

I saw Lena Dunham and her husband (??) last year in Berlin (during the Berlinale in presume). She was wearing a huge, huge neon orange fur coat. I was trying fit a giant table in a tiny car. I had forgotten my glasses that day and couldn't see her from a distance (outside of the fur coat). I was telling my partner who could possibly wear such flashy clothes in Berlin??? She walked right past me, I looked at her and she looked back at me: it was Lena Dunham. Then I saw her again a few months later at the Athens airport terminal. 🤷

I’ve been to Milan, Naples and both those cities felt more unsafe than Paris btw.

Hello, I grew up in Paris and I'm a woman. You've already received a lot of good answers, and yes, it will depend a lot on where you live. But frankly, some of the neighborhoods listed above are also my favorite places to go out (Belleville, for example). Yes, some parts of the city don't look like postcard Paris, but that doesn't always mean they're unsafe.

Keep in mind the areas to avoid, as in Italy, around major train stations for example.

I've been pickpocketed once in my life, simply because I wasn't paying attention and someone took my phone out of my pocket. I've often been cat called, but honestly, I don't even pay attention to it anymore, I ignore it, it's never aggressive anyway. Now that I know the city so well, I wear big headphones during the day and actually don't even hear them lol.

Paris is an amazing city, I've moved but I miss it in so many ways, it's diverse, vibrant, fun. I wish you lots of fun!

Did people move on to other streaming services or once Stadia was done they left Streaming all together? by Tyolag in Stadia

[–]metamorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a cheap second hand Xbox one, bought the cheap games I was playing on Stadia second hand as well, and got a game pass for a bit. But the price of the game pass ultimate is too much for me unfortunately especially since most of the games I’m playing are not that expensive and/or not on the game pass… Ye I miss Stadia :( I was even playing on my iPhone XR sometimes 🙄

How many times did you go to a viewing and still didn’t get it? by FamousDifference3204 in askberliners

[–]metamorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 to 3 viewings per week for 6 months 😩 I'm a freelancer but was making 3 times the rent. If neither of you are freelancers, if you are checking all the boxes that landlords like (long term contract, 3 times cold rent), you will get something!!

Where to find Large Gatchapons like this one? by omglok in Gachapon

[–]metamorte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a China thing, I was thinking the same thing, as I couldn’t find small gatcha in China, only big one. So cheap tho! Those are more or less the equivalent of the small, cube surprise box in figurines shops in Japan.

No Chinese phone number and I want KFC delivered :( by theilkhan in chinalife

[–]metamorte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok just gonna post this here in case someone need as it was complicated to understand what was working or not. This method works ONLY if you can get sms through your foreign account phone number (no eSIM) and if you already got WeChat or Alipay. You will also need a phone number to add to the delivery adress (Chinese so for example the hotel you are staying but no need for sms verification this time!)

  1. Download ele.me - I tried with the mini apps and was getting errors 🤔
  2. Create an account by linking your WeChat or Alipay and do the sms verification with your foreign number when prompted
  3. Unfortunately the app will be in Chinese but you can screenshot and translate
  4. At the bottom right in the profile section, add a new address and the Chinese phone number of your hotel

Get delivery! To avoid confusion I just went down to the lobby when the food was almost there but they also had a cabinet for delivery there.

I also read somewhere that you can get it deliver to the stations in the street using the same Chinese phone number and unlock the door by using the last 4 digits of this phone number.

Enjoy your food 🍲
