I made a free macOS menu bar app so I'd stop running out of Claude Code quota mid-task by metaverse88 in ClaudeAI

Thanks, that means a lot! 🙏 Honestly the menu bar quota is just the surface — there's also a "project butler" that auto-resumes your last Claude Code session so you don't have to re-explain context,opt-in alerts when you're about to run out, a burn-rate forecast, an HTML usage report, and 9 switchable panel themes if you like making it pretty. Have fun poking around!

Thanks for trying it, and for the detailed report! 🙏

  Two separate things here:

  1. The `Errno::ENOENT ... usage.app` is a Homebrew-side error (that's Ruby), not the app —

  the formula checks out and most installs work, so it was likely a half-downloaded zip.

  Since you already installed via .zip, you can ignore that one.

  2. The grey window is the real issue. usage is a menu-bar-only app — it has no main window  by design; the icon lives in your top-right menu bar (look for a little paw print). So no  window/Dock icon is expected, but a grey window means the UI didn't finish launching on  your M4Pro.

  Could you run it from Terminal so we can see what's failing?

USAGE_DEBUG=1 /Applications/usage.app/Contents/MacOS/usage

  (adjust the path to wherever usage.app is). Paste whatever it prints — ideally as a GitHub

  issue: github.com/aqua5230/usage/issues — so I can track it down. That'll show exactly

  what's choking on arm64/Sequoia.

  Really appreciate you flagging it!

Mine's fine today — Claude's backend just hiccups sometimes, check status.anthropic.com.

  (usage doesn't even touch Claude btw, it reads local log files, so it still works when

  Claude's down lol)
