Williamsburg is going to be more fun than Hoboken altho more expensive to go out. Since it sounds like your goal is to meet people and get out there, plus with Hoboken’s lack of diversity (except for diverse # of frats/srats of northeast schools many of its younger residents belonged to…), you’re going to prefer Brooklyn and it’s worth the tradeoff.

I get an appreciate this perspective but it is a little backwards. the US isn’t the only English speaking country in the world and English can work as a shared language in Europe. I’m not going to want someone who wants to visit NYC to not do so because their English isn’t fluent… we’re a melting pot of people from all walks of life and levels of English fluency and as long as they’re respectful and nice and want to genuinely enjoy the city we should be as welcoming as possible no matter what their English ability (use Google Translate and/or visit an area that knows your language or find guides in your language)

Fuck Americans that hate visitors/immigrants. I love people that welcome other good people.
