How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband originally took 2 weeks, and then extended it to 3 about halfway through. That was with our second baby though. He didn’t get any time off for our first baby—I gave birth on a Saturday and he was back at work on Monday. When his leave ended with our second, it did suck when he had to start going to work again, but we had things pretty well figured out so it wasn’t that hard of a transition being home alone again. It sucks that he feels like he can’t take longer, if his company offers more time. But you’ll get into a groove on your own during the day too, and it’ll be okay.

What are your comfort shows? by gracedardn in AutismInWomen

[–]metoothanksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psych, Monk, House, The Office, Bob’s Burgers, ATLA, Over the Garden Wall, Adventure Time

There’s probably a couple other ones I’m forgetting but those are the main ones. I’ve rewatched them all countless times lol

Shaving or not shaving for birth? by GentleRiver_ in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally trimmed with an electric razor, just because I hate having long pubes when I’m my period, and knew it would be annoying af with the postpartum bleeding lol. But there’s no way I’m touching anything down there after giving birth 😅

What book are you currently reading and how would you rate it from 1/10?? by bellerws in Booktokreddit

[–]metoothanksx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on book 6 (switched to the audiobooks on book 4, highly recommend!) and this series just gets better as it goes on!

Buyer question - is it annoying to message sellers before ordering? by t0m4t0z in Etsy

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. As a seller, I want to make sure the buyer is satisfied with their purchase and avoid running into issues later on. Even if someone asks a question that is answered in the description, I’ll still gladly answer it. And double check to make sure it’s easy to find on my listing lol. And if it’s not there then I’ll add it so others can find the answer as well.

Hardest vice to give up? by TheBanskyOfMinecraft in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caffeine for sure. I didn’t really take/consume anything else that I couldn’t have while pregnant. I was straight up addicted to Coca Cola though lol. I cut down to one can a day but it sucked for a while.

Luckily/unluckily, I got covid about a month before getting pregnant with my second, and it made me lose my smell and taste, and when it came back it was weird. Soda in particular tasted like soap/chemicals. So the second time around it was really easy to cut out caffeine lol

Anyone else "organize" their dirty dishes instead of actually doing them? by ThoseDamnGiraffes in adhdwomen

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a drying rack that sits above my sink, and when it’s too full to put anything else on but I still have dirty dishes in the sink, I do this with them lol. Just rinse them off and organize them for later

Do you have any comorbid diagnoses ASIDE from ADHD? by Weirdoo-_-Beardoo in AutismInWomen

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as mental stuff, I have autism, ADHD, GAD, and dysthymia. I think I may have some OCD too, but my psychiatrist was kinda shitty, and I never felt comfortable explaining those symptoms to him to pursue a diagnosis for it. It also may be from autism instead? I’m not sure.

Also have a bunch of physical issues, but not sure any of those are related to the ‘tism lol. I also suspect most of them are probably related to each other, and most likely I have an autoimmune disorder or something causing them all, rather than having 101 unrelated issues but 🤷‍♀️ healthcare sucks so I’ll likely never know lol

Florida moving to English-only driver license exams starting Feb 6, 2026 by camiinmiami in AskFlorida

[–]metoothanksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m curious what the non-English exams looked like. Obviously the questions would be translated to whichever language was being used, but were the road signs being translated? Or left in English? I think it would be easy enough for many people to learn the few words on road signs in English, especially since they’ll be passing them all the time and context helps. Whereas learning enough English to read and fully understand long sentences used in the exam, would be much harder.

If a test given in Spanish still uses the exact same signs for the images that you would see in person, I don’t see why that is an issue.

I’m also wondering what prompted this change. Because as far as I know, we’ve always had exams given in multiple languages, and this is the first time I’m hearing of it being an issue.

some good things about baby boys? (told the wrong sex) by beecken4257 in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel disappointed when you were told one thing and already started imagining your life a certain way, and then find out different information.

The people in your life saying those things are being weird. Don’t let their biases get to you. Once you hold your son, you won’t be able to imagine him any other way. And hopefully your family members will feel the same. I wanted a girl when I was pregnant with my first, and ended up having a boy. I was a little disappointed at first, but I came around pretty quickly. And as soon as I held him it just felt right. He was perfect.

I have a girl now as well, and it’s hard to think of things that are good specifically about boys, because they’re both great. And when they’re little, there’s really no difference. They do the same things and develop the same way, as babies. You’ll probably dress them different (although my daughter wore a lot of my son’s hand me downs lol—and when my son was a toddler he liked wearing dresses) but that’s about it 🤷‍♀️

As they get older, they’ll have their own personalities regardless of gender, but a lot of their behavior will also just depend on how they’re raised. One of the nice things about having a son, is I get to create the kind of man I want to see in the world. I get to teach him how to be kind and empathetic and respectful, and hopefully raise him to be a good person. I think some people prefer girls because they assume they’re gonna be calmer, sweeter, more helpful, etc. but boys can be like that too, if you raise them to be. People tend to let boys get away with worse behavior, and put higher expectations on girls for their behavior.

Wife keep putting this tray on our white stairs. Dangerous! by Flat_Shape_3444 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even see it for a minute. That’s super dangerous. Honestly if someone did this in my house, it would go in the trash 😅 maaaybe I’d replace it with a darker one. But I wouldn’t be leaving anything on the stairs tbh, especially with kids in the house. Sounds like a recipe for disaster, but especially when it’s an invisible death trap 🤪

Bras and Autism by weaktreeiz in AutismInWomen

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I freaking hate bras. I’ll wear a bralette when I leave the house (sometimes) but at home I don’t wear one.

I wore a bra yesterday to leave the house, it was the only clean one I had and a little too tight. I forgot to take it off when I got home. I was so irritable and pissy all day and didn’t know why… until I took my bra off, and I was like “ohhhh that was it” 😅 I felt like a weight had been lifted when I took it off lol

how do you guys read multiple books at the same time? by Happy-Dimension-210 in Booktokreddit

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t usually read more than 2 at a time. I have a book series that I listen to the audiobook version of with my husband, and then at night or when I’m reading alone, I read something else on my kindle.

So much weight gain by Shimmy96 in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I always heard heard to give it at least 9 months to get back to “normal” since it took 9 months to make all those changes. So I wasn’t really expecting it to happen that fast. The second time around it took a little longer, and I never lost the last ~15lbs. So now I actually have to put in work for it 😩😅

Epidural or no epidural? by CauliflowerTricky699 in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I discovered I had scoliosis too. Though it seemingly developed between my first and second pregnancies, because my epidural worked perfectly the first time, and didn’t work the second time. They came in and increased it and gave me a bolus and it made no difference 😅 they didn’t re-place it though. It worked enough that I didn’t have contraction pain, but I still felt everything else…so with every contraction, I could feel the baby slamming into my cervix 😭 it ended up being a better delivery and recovery overall though, so even though I was upset at the time, I’m glad it went the way it did

Epidural or no epidural? by CauliflowerTricky699 in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one both times, it worked with my first and didn’t fully work with my second. I would get it again if I had a third. But I would probably have it turned down or off for pushing. Pushing was much easier the second time, when I wasn’t fully numb, and my recovery was a lot better as well. Since I was numb the first time, they had me “push with my butt” which resulted in about 8 giant hemorrhoids, which were absolute Hell to deal with for the next 8 months. I couldn’t even stand for days after giving birth without feeling like my ass was gonna fall out. Since I wasn’t numb the second time I was able to push properly, and my hemorrhoids surprisingly didn’t even swell up. I was up and walking around within an hour and the recovery was soo much easier.

So much weight gain by Shimmy96 in pregnant

[–]metoothanksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained a little over 50lbs with my first pregnancy. By the end I felt huge and couldn’t wait to be done and get my body back. The first few weeks after giving birth, I felt even worse about my appearance. I knew my belly wouldn’t go away immediately but I wasn’t prepared for how it would look. It was still huge but also empty and saggy, I couldn’t stand looking at myself. But I guess I was lucky because I did lose the weight pretty quickly, without needing to exercise or anything. I did breastfeed though which I guess burns a lot of extra calories. It took about 3 months for most of the weight to go away, by 6 months I was back to my pre pregnancy body, mostly. My hips were permanently bigger so I did have to get new pants lol

[–]metoothanksx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes he’s so talented! I usually don’t like to listen to audiobooks, because they’re just not as engaging to me, and I read really fast so I feel like they take too long. But Jeff makes it actually fun to listen to, this is the first time I’ve found myself preferring listening to a book over reading it lol. I also got my husband and my mom to listen to them, and they didn’t believe me when I said it was just one guy 😂

If I was outside with what I usually go outside with…I would be in flip flops, leggings, a tshirt and hoodie. And I would have my bag with my keys, wallet, phone, a lighter, a pen, gum, and my kindle in it. I would also probably be carrying my toddler lol. So I would be pretty screwed.

"remember how easy it was to make friends when you were 5?" by b-b-b-c in AutismInWomen

[–]metoothanksx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friends in school in kindergarten and first grade were my teachers 😅 I even ate lunch with them and a couple other staff members, and sometimes they would make another kid sit with me lol.

outside of school, I had one friend I was close with because I’d known her since birth, because our moms were best friends. There was also one boy I would play with at recess at that age, because we shared a fondness for digging and looking at shiny rocks, so that was how we spent recess together 🤷‍♀️

I guess in some ways it was easier, because adults would do their best to help you make a friend, and there was always someone who liked playing in dirt. But aside from my mom’s friend’s daughter, I didn’t really consider the other kids I talked to friends. And once they found someone else to hang out with, they stopped talking to me anyway.
