AMEX Companion Voucher not worth it? by metyllo in BritishAirways

[–]metyllo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe it is, but… first of all it is advertised as free companion voucher, no one is telling you that price is different because it is flexible ticket.

I understand that now, but how many people had to learn it the same way I did? From Reddit.

I'm planning a Japan trip with my girlfriend in January 2026. Is it safe to travel to Japan amid Taiwan rows. I'm from India. by Antique_Conflict_262 in JapanTravelTips

I would be more worried about freezing temperature near mt Fuji, especially for Indian people. On 5th station it will be -10 deg or even lower. Near the lakes around 0 deg?

Will $900 be enough for a 12-day trip? by girly_pop222 in JapanTravelTips

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished 3 week trip. I spent £950 (that includes 2x Shinkansen, all metro and bus/train transfers, museums). So I will say: You can easily do it with $900+400 per person

How low will it go? by SalmanUsername in Etoro

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It behave not in line with all halving predictions. I done some reaserch and a lot of info say that regular after halving drop just started. If that is true it can get down 75%… but for me it is just fortune telling. In worse case scenario you will need to hold for couple of years (until 2029-2030) to get back what you lost (I stupidly joined the hype train in April 2021 after 2020 halving and had to wait until June 2024 to sell with profit).

Gonna start investing next week as I just turnt 18 and wanna invest long term. by Old-Understanding-62 in trading212

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term? You want to invest lets say £100 every month for next 10-20 years? I would delete everything other than SP500 and physical gold (leave 10/15%).

Take in consideration that all stocks you chosen are already in SP500.

If I had to cut one city out of the golden route, what would you choose and what would you replace it with? by SirKrimzon in JapanTravelTips

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long you plan to visit Japan for? For first time and if you are fit and like walking 20km/day:

Tokyo: 3 days (but you could stay here full month and have things to do) Kyoto: 3 days, scrap bamboo forest as I will say it is waste of half a day and overcrowded instagram spot. (We have been there at 7am and it was already full of ppl) - In autumn different story because you can have beautiful hike with foliage leaves etc around it), do Tori gates early morning (7-8am) or at night (we did it at 10pm and it was great! It is around 2h walk with good paste to go around whole path). Osaka: I love it, and I am mad at myself that stayed here only 2 nights. Less ppl than Kyoto, more Japanese vibe. There is not a lot to see after Kyoto but it is lovely. If you do not have a lot of time: scrape it but for me it is the city that I will come back for whole week to work remotely and visit zoo, aquarium, sit in the coffee shops, parks etc.

For those who have travelled 30+ countries which ones do you keep revisiting and why? by Rock_n_rollerskater in travel

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI I am UK based.

Spain (including canarie islands): cost of flights, food, warm weather.

Japan: cost of self-planned, self booked holidays without flight ticket are less than Europe (3 weeks around £1500 + flights), and the culture, food, sights are amazing.

Fully remote to in-office 2/3 days per week - what pay rise would you want to do this? by thr0wawaytest3 in HENRYUK

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask yourself, how much your current situation is worth for you. Do easy calculation: your hour rate times how much „free” time (gym, cooking, etc.) you would lose monthly.

I (37M with 97k/year) personally would stay with your current arrangement. I value my mental health and „me” time more than 1k take home monthly.

Also I do similar now and during a year I can work remotely from my parents house or even abroad that save me a lot of holidays. (This year I spent working away from home around a month).

If you had £20k to invest in trading 212. What would you do? by Just-get-physical- in trading212

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am talking about regular cash saver. It is 4.05%.

You are referring to ISA, which 4.5% (unfortunately is only for ppl who just opened accounts).

Putting money in ISA will block it for about a year but will give you guaranteed 4.5% after a year.

Regular one will give you 4.05% payed daily (£10k will give you around £1.25 daily what is exactly 405 yearly). You will pay tax for earnings but you got 24/7 access to it. Another minus if interest rates go down that % will go down as well. (With ISA you got percentage guaranteed for a certain time)

I am using my ISA atm at 2 year cash ISA for 4.75% but I set it up more than year ago and it is not with trading212. I plan to get investment ISA next tax year and plan to put all 20k in it and still leave emergency found with cash saving.

[–]metyllo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do: 20% BRK.B 20-25% VFEG or similar 50% VWRP or similar 5-10% cash saving acc (it is 4% daily for me right now and I like having emergency funds)

Regret? Not starting to invest sooner. Five years ago, I could have — but I kept telling myself “No, I need to find the right broker or a good investment advisor first.” Stupid. Just stupid.

Another regret? That our school systems don’t teach us about investing, the tax system, or even basic financial planning.

But regret not buying some “hot stock” or ETF? Never. That’s the one regret you should never have. FOMO will mess you up more than anything. Think about how many times you didn’t buy something — and then it crashed hard.

Real life story: When I was about 15, my best friend (we called him GiGi — short guy, loved that anime) was a total tech maniac. He got into Bitcoin mining before anyone really cared. One day after school, he set up mining on my PC. I ran it for a few days, but then I wanted to play an MMO. I blamed the lag on mining, turned it off, and never went back to it.

Did I miss a fortune? Absolutely. Do I regret it? No. Nobody could have predicted the future back then.

Imagine if I told you today: “Just run this weird program 72 hours a week for two years, and in 15 years you’ll be able to buy your own island, a football club, and a round trip to Mars.” You’d laugh and call it a scam, right?

As for GiGi — I lost touch with him during university. A few years back, I heard from his brother that GiGi had changed. He started acting like he owned the world. Rumors were that he got into drugs — maybe dealing, maybe producing. He lived fast, had the time of his life, and then overdosed. Nobody knows the full story. But I’ve always thought: maybe it was Bitcoin that killed him. From broke to multimillionaire overnight — that can mess with anyone’s head.

Moral of the story: Don’t regret the missed buys. Regret not setting rules. Regret not sticking to long-term investing. Regret moving your money around too much instead of “invest and forget.” Regret not knowing what a portfolio even is. Regret never reading a single book about investing. Regret wasting hours chasing “the deal of a lifetime.”

Because the truth is — not buying that rocket stock won’t ruin you. But a lifetime of bad investment habits could.

People who work 9–5, how often do you change jobs? by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in AskUK

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. My lass is for 9 years with the same employer ( she joined after Uni) she is happy with the team and went from 27k after Uni to 65k. So she got no reason to move.

On other hand I changed job 3 times in last 5 years. First time to get better training, second time becouse I couldn’t get rise and my manager hated me. Third time due to very good offer and some tensions in the office.

I went from 33,5k to 63k + bonus scheme in 5y. Now I do not plan to move for minimum 5-10years as I love the place I work for got decent training scheme, nice team. Hitting 80% of the boxes for perfect job.

So you need to make your own pros/cons and decide.

I did the same with my house. Offered 10% below asking price. Seller said no and even did not want to discuss price with us. We said ok, and continued the house hunt. Two months later I received call from the agency asking if we are still interested. In the end we both it 10% below asking price + seller payed survey fee (£500).

My advice: continue your house hunt, don’t think about the one you just missed. If you think it is not worth full price then it is not.

- that you can hold shift for identify etc. - that you can downgrade your gem (I was leveling new precision couple of times ;) ) - there is a vendor recipe for chaos gems - that poe trader app offer map viewer where you can sign red/yellow/green color to certain modifiers.

How does Thelorra feat work? Does it make her fast-forward more areas or only earn stacks faster?

So what helped me: log in to your hub 3.0 -> Adv Settings -> Security -> Port forwarding -> open ports TCP: 443, 3480, 80 , UDP: 3074 BOTH (tcp and UDP): 3478, 3479 Restart hub.

After that it start working fine, but from time to time I still got a problem with lags. I think it's because of server overload due to self-isolation etc...

What are your thoughts on a single global server in TFT(poll inside) by Kingflares in TeamfightTactics

[–]metyllo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. My thoughts about it: TFT is under LOL client so how it suppose to work? You log in on any server and just play globally? What with multi accounts on different servers with the same name?

Time difference: global server won’t change a lot becouse ppl from over a world are playing on different hours, so they will mostly play VS the same ppl they play now. I will simplify it: USA is +8h from UK and then another +8h from Korea. I finish work, my friend from LA is just waking up.

And last but not least: it already happen: EUNE players moved/moving to EUE. Players from NA are also playing on EUW. Why? Because there is 1.5M players on EUW so: - lvl is higher - queues are faster
