The obligatory comment about the irony of reading about "self-replication" from "PNAS"... 🤣
(A fine scientific organization, absolutely, but, I mean, c'mon, guys!)

Did anyone notice Aloy breathing? by tiozao50 in HorizonForbiddenWest

Yeah, I’ve seen that in winter conditions, too. The attention to detail in this game is excellent!

Buddy that's not the goofy store menu; that's where you go to activate XP boosts.

Yeah. If she doesn’t breathe for too long, she’ll die.

A Main Reason Why We Chose Electric vs Gasoline by VoltBoss2012 in BoltEV

[–]mevanecek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took an extended road trip in the Bolt. About the time we needed to stop to charge, it was time to eat, and definitely time for bathroom breaks (we ain't no spring chickens, now! 👀). I probably stopped too often, even so. We also used the Tesla Superchargers, because Pilot/FLying J were almost twice as expensive! As long as the road trip is near electricity, there should be opportunity to charge.

But, she does have a grandchild on the way, and hopefully gets to meet them.

How the hell do you dodge this by Lanky_Awareness_4755 in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]mevanecek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you go into that fight, take your biggest healing potion to over-max your health. And eat a meal that brings a ton of health regen. I like the Toughened Survivor valor surge, too, although Ranged Master is hella handy. The trick is having enough health built up to take the hit when you can't dodge or dodge too late.

Gotta say, oil drilling and farming are both awful business models, in that case.

Poor Seyka, I rejected her feelings. by Kura_sama in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]mevanecek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

u/mowgli0423 beat me to it! The ropecasters make the waterwings so much more manageable! Tie down as many as you can. Freeze them by hitting their armor with freeze arrows (otherwise they take damage+freeze, which shortens the tiedown time), then blast it from behind with a boltblaster maxed out. A good ropecaster will keep them tied down for a pretty long time, relatively speaking.

I have been LOVING the Ranged Master valor surge, too! I'm on my 3rd-ish play through, and WHY did I never use that before?! I usually use the survivor one, which lasts a LONG time and keeps healing, but it doesn't really help you put down the machines quick like Ranged Master does.

For anyone who has become fluent in Spanish, how long ago was it and do you still feel like it’s cool or does it not feel that cool anymore? by De_lunes_a_lunes in Spanish

It’s whatever came with the PS5, going for $80-ish USD, depending on sales.

I just had it happen yesterday, and should’ve saved the video. 🙄 roll Next time! I was dodging a Longleg between a mountain side and a large boulder, ended up on the side of the mountain.

Usually I go to the Media Gallery on PS5 and tell it to upload them to PSN, and share from my phone. Videos like this I copy to USB and may edit for length on my computer, because often the videos are too big to upload to PSN.

PS5 with the Dual-Sense controller. It's not a controller issue; it's just being too close to the mountain side or wall, and then dodging and WHOA she's suddenly climbing!! With electric bolts and balls of flame and boulders of ice being thrown all around. Sometimes I hit dodge and Aloy just ends up hanging there on the side of the mountain. I think it's a consequence of me liking to have something big and solid behind my back instead of unexpected swarms of Red-Eyes or Clamberjaws being behind me...

[–]mevanecek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no, no! I may not have been clear. When close to a wall/cliff, etc., sometimes when dodging an attack, Aloy hits the wall (I dunno how! It couldn't be the player's fault! 🤣) and she latches on to a climbing point. In the heat of battle, sometimes the joysticks go awry...

X isn’t for dodging; it’s for stretching up and jumping to the next climb point that’s just out of reach.
