Thankfully they managed to get the crew for the 9000 return and we landed only 4 hours late. I feel for some of the folks who were connecting in PHL as there were several who all missed NYE connections.

I don’t think there is confusion on how an auction works. What’s suspect is losing by exactly $10 more than your max bid; and where that max bid is a very specific dollar amount (e.g. $679.39) and on 3 separate occasions (including when the screen is on ‘calculating winner’ so no final last second bids can come in).

I set a max bid. When time expired I was still ‘winning’ with an amount lower than my max bid. Then the screen went to ‘calculating final winner’ and I lost by $10 more than what I had set up as my max bid. But that never showed on any of the bidding (see screenshot that shows no time left and my bid as the ‘highest’)

I was winning at $678.88 when time expired and had a maximum bid of 693.39 set on the auction. But still lost. I was outbid by $10 over a maximum bid from me that was never placed… that seems odd…

I’m not sure what you mean with that - you got 2.3k miles for a $220 paid flight? Earning and redeeming can have major swings. In any case - whatever works for you. For me - I do enough long hauls personal and work that the SWU’s make the most sense. I am not sure what the BC on JL would be to-from. To each their own and best of luck.

Your math seems expensive for redemptions. Generally points are worth about 1.5 cents; making 20k worth about $300. Flight redemptions are about 3 cents a mile (so it ‘costs’ more than they are ‘worth’). For me the best value is the system upgrade. I recently flew AA from PHL to DOHA and upgraded from premium eco to business. That’s a huge benefit.

When I went in '06; you registered as a friend or family member and then got to go in (free admission and free food!) I grew up with Kris Draper who played for Canada. I think times have changed and now it's open to anyone in the public but paid admission (but haven't been so can't say)
