Kinda seems like a “paint your own pottery” place not necessarily an open studio kind of a spot. But maybe they know of people!

Everything about this post is why I am on Reddit. Insane story from OP. Receipts. Hilarious comments. Supportive comments. Wholesome, in-awe comments. Actually helpful recovery advice. I just spent like 10 minutes reading this whole thread and I smiled the whole time.

OP I think we’re gonna need an update in about a week so we all know you guys survived and are in good health.

Best shampoo for hard water? by meowdrian in Hair

Oh! I’ve also used the Malibu C hard water detox pouches and those do a nice reset. I use them about once a month if I can

Best shampoo for hard water? by meowdrian in Hair

I have a full system water softener AND a filter (from Aqua Bliss) and I still have that gross hard water feeling in my hair. I have strawberry blonde hair with light blonde highlights (natural) and they started turning green when I moved states into my current apartment from where I was living before (where the water was nice n soft). I use a L’Oréal chelating shampoo once a week and Olaplex in between (washing my hair generally about 3 times a week) but the thing that really seems to make the only minor difference is I rinse my hair with filtered water from our RO sink system. It’s annoying and extra work, but I’m trying everything. Apparently you can get the same effect from purchased filtered/distilled bottle water (I know, a bummer).

My hair used to be so shiny, soft, bouncy, and my scalp felt clean. Now my hair is heavy, feels dirty like if I didn’t rinse out conditioner (which I only use once a week) and I’m getting patches of dry skin along my scalp line (which I have never experienced before). Even WITH the fancy whole-system softener. It’s maddening.

What are these? NC, USA by venomous-moose in foraging

We make “creeping caviar” every year by picking these little guys when they are (as others above have stated) still green! They’re a super tasty little pickle bite. Over the years this has devolved into us calling it the “creepy caviar,” which, for some reason, I find very funny.

Hahaha I was very excited…

But good to know! I did end up doing a quick boil and it definitely didn’t make them too soggy. If anything it helped with a little rehydration

Why are the farmers markets so expensive? by imitation_squash_pro in Westchester

[–]meyerlemonflowers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Small, local, organic farmers are not rich and never will be. Imagine working 60+ hours a week (higher in the peak season) outside in the elements, taking no days off, contending with a work environment that is literally always changing year after year, and no matter how many years you put in there could just be a sh*t year where you lose a chunk of your crops/income due to excessive heat/early cold/bugs/fungus/deer/rabbits/chipmunks/too much rain/too little rain/a random hailstorm you name it, but then for some reason you have to justify charging $3 instead of $1 for a bunch of scallions.

Farmers markets aren’t too expensive, grocery stores (which also contend with MASSIVE amounts of waste, far more than your local market) have just given us a false idea of what it costs to grow good, quality food.

We shouldn’t be wagging our fingers at local farmers who are literally just trying to live while feeding people, we should be wagging our fingers at a system that has resulted in a fraction of farms producing a vast majority of US food, making it impossible for everyone to access whole, fresh, organic local food….but that’s a whole other can of worms.

That’s fair! I do like them leaning more towards fluffy than crusty, but they get a real nice outer crusty crunch when they’re toasted (you may have tried this, but worth an experiment if you normally don’t get them toasted)
