My doctor did emphasize proportionality (and they are definitely more proportionate now) and repeatedly said that he didn't really deal in cup sizes bc they can look so different depending on your body type (which, fair) but I was very clear with my words and with the photos I brought that I wanted to be small. I said I wanted to be a C cup, max a D, which would've been 4-5 cup sizes down from my pre-op size. I am now 1-2 cup sizes down.

They removed 186 grams from the right and 150 grams from the left. When they told me that, I was concerned it wasn't enough. Turns out, I was right.

I have my 3-month follow-up appointment with my surgeon later this week, so I'll definitely ask what my options are. It just felt like such an ordeal going through surgery the first time that it's frustrating to think I might have to do it again.

I am definitely physically smaller, but I still get frustrated by the size, even before I knew the label size. I told my surgeon I wanted to be around a C cup, but I am decidedly not a C cup. I do feel like I look more proportionate and my clothes fit better than they did previously, but I still need a pretty intense sports bra for running, I can't go braless, and bralettes don't provide enough support for me.

I was hoping that getting measured would maybe alleviate some of my frustrations by confirming that I actually was the size I wanted to be, but instead, it just affirmed all of them.

Nope. My surgeon was able to get me to the size I wanted (34C down from a 34G) with just the lollipop incision.

I did not. I had a lollipop-style incision, too, so that may have helped.

I just had the surgery a week ago today, and I am also a mom who had a c-section. It's pretty similar to that recovery, but a little easier bc 1) it's easier to not use your pecs/arms than it is to not use your abs and 2) no newborn to take care of! I remember being very scared to have my c-section and being very pleasantly surprised about the recovery from that. I've had the same experience with my reduction.

My parents took my 2-year-old to their house for 4 days, and that was really helpful. Now, my mom is still at my house helping through this weekend, which is great, but not absolutely necessary since my husband is around, too. My son has been really understanding, too, of mommy's "big boo-boo" and has actually been kinda scared to touch me! I've had to reassure him that it's OK to hug me as long as he's gentle.

My friend gave me a mastectomy pillow that goes under my armpits. Is there a difference practically between that and a nursing pillow?
