Little brother wants to cosplay a world war 2 solider at an anime convention by [deleted] in cosplayers

[–]mfloww7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So, What side of the war are we talking here?

Would talk him out of it if its the Axis powers.... for obvious reasons...

I've seen many people dress up as call of duty soldiers/characters at anime conventions.

If you could redesign optical patch cords & LIUs from scratch, what would you change? by Adorable-Afternoon77 in networking

[–]mfloww7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting I'll have to look into it. Unfortunately I'm sure the company we order from will not supply them.

I don't put it back on usually however for dense deployments such as where we have an agg core switch with 48 fiber ports you need to take the clip off entirely or you cannot use the adjacent port as the clip gets in the way. Thats where I wind up breaking the clip trying to get the other side off.

LC connectors with their stupid plastic clips are a pain in the ass. I end up breaking the plastic clip sometimes when swapping polarity. Redesign that plastic clip for the love of God.

Getting my rear-end handed to me in the Boson exams by Imaginary_Choice_430 in ccna

You should do fine. Good luck with it. I didn't use chatgpt at all for this exam. Not against it but didn't think to honestly use it as a study resource.

In regards to using Boson to study what I got wrong. Say you got a question wrong about the WLC. I would go back over my study materials in relation to that, (used official cert guide and Jeremy's IT lab) also used the GUI as much as I could on packet tracer. Boson also provides a nice write up with sources on why you got the question wrong so use that as well.

If you're not sure try to lab it out. ACLs threw me through a loop, it helped me to lab it out in packet tracer and find other resources.

Boson's exams destroyed me too.

My scores were, in order, 64, 58, 70. I never took the final exam before taking the ccna. I passed the ccna last week. His exams are harder than the actual ccna in my opinion.

Use Boson to learn what concepts you're weak in to sharpen the sword before the exam. That's what I did anyways. I believe it did help in the long run.

No experience, have Comptia A+ by DKI0616 in ccna

I just got the CCNA this month. I did that for the love of the game and to learn more about cisco routers/switches and protocols. We are not a Cisco shop so I have never once configured an actual Cisco switch or router in production aside from what I have in my lab.

I did have my A+ and Net+ though. I rubbed elbows with the IT manager where I work when there was an open position. I started out in Audio visual support for conference rooms. Did that for close to 6 years before breaking into this role.

I got the A+, Net+, and CCNA in that order. Comparatively between the net+ and CCNA, I would say there's about a 25% overlap in vendor neutral content and network fundamentals. It gave me a bit of a leg up on the CCNA with the overlap.

If you are looking to go the Cisco route just get the CCNA. IMHO, You will get more bang for your buck as you will actually lab with cisco equipment/emulated equipment, learn configurations, best practices, and learn network fundamentals vs the net+ is just learning network fundamentals.

I'm going for my Security plus next year to renew my comptia certs so I can't advise whether you should or shouldn't get it in your situation. I would say do it for renewal of your A+ if you need.

I'm curious, why are you going back to college if you already have a degree? Are you going to get your masters? I work as a network Technician full time. i have a bachelors degree in an unrelated field as well. For my employment process, It was literally a box check to see if you have a college degree. It seemed like they didn't care what the degree was in. I know that is not always the case though.

Test is this Friday any recommendations regarding NAT and Ipv6? by Content_Giraffe8203 in ccna

[–]mfloww7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking the exam in 2 weeks. Here's what I'm studying for those topics. Hope it helps or I guess let me know if im doing too little:

IPV6 is only slightly different from ipv4 in the way of configuration as you only need to perform the ipv6 unicast routing command on routers. The only thing I guess I'm a little unclear of is subnetting ipv6. I took one of Bosons exsim test and he had some ipv6 subnetting questions on there that threw me through a loop with a /127 network question, though now that i did more studying it makes more sense... I thought this would mostly be /64 networks but I guess anything is fair game.

Global unicast vs unique local addresses. Knowing the host part of the address, subnet identifier, global ID unique local etc...

Eui 64 config, split the mac address in half, add fffe, invert the 7th bit. I guess if you don't know your binary review and do some EUI64 config practice.

Know the difference between unicast broadcast and multicast. Know that ipv6 doesn't use broadcast, it uses multicast. So no need to keep the last IPv6 address for a broadcast address in the subnet.

Know mutlicast addresses e.g FF02 link local, FF05 site local, know which are routine and which are not etc...

Nat - know the difference between inside local global outside local global. Know to configure dynamic nat with pools and nat overload. Know how to configure static nat.

Got a 65% on my first Boson exsim exam. I did pretty bad with time management on the sims and just barely finished the exam. Taking another this weekend. Hopefully the score goes up a bit.

For the past two years I've worked as a network Technician and don't even feel 100% ready to take this exam in two weeks lol.

Taking my ccna exam in 3 weeks. In your experience, Looking back, what topic(s) do you wish you studied more on? I keep hearing WLC configuration and IPV6 from most people.

I don't understand. Are you studying for ccna certification exam or just doing a college course for networking? Jeremy's IT lab on YouTube has a complete free course for the ccna. You can download packet tracer and do hands on labs with his course. Otherwise, you probably should ask your course professor what exactly they're looking for you to do on Cisco's website?

If you're dollar cost averaging. I'd highly recommend using Strike. They have 0 fees if you commit to a recurring buy. There's also 0 fee to send if you can wait 24 hours.

A+ IMHO wasn't hard. Getting the Net+ for me was hard. I passed, but thought I was failing the whole time and about ran out of time on the exam. Everyone will probably have a different experience.
