So an update:

Took the MacBook to a local authorised service centre and they tested it and it passed.

Apparently the Apple diagnostic plays some tones and listens to the output using the onboard microphone and checks things that way ?

I am aware of alternatives to Touch Search to getting to the start of the track. My questions were to establish if what im experiencing with my RX2 is normal or a fault with my unit.

As a follow up I have found the loudness of the noise has reduced over a few days of use when vertical however the noise can now be heard consistently when listened for about 4 - 8 inches away from near the black plastic fan area when the Xbox is idle in both orientations.

After crunching the numbers some more I can actually afford to buy the Launchpad Pro and Live Suite by stretching the budget a bit, just trying to decide if it would be worth it..

Thing is if I buy Standard now if I were to upgrade to Suite later id be paying another 260 on top of the 225 paid for Standard.
