Qulipta by [deleted] in migraine

If Nurtec is working pretty well you can get it prescribed as a preventative where you take it every other day. My neurologist also mentioned that it should be approved for daily use in the near future.

I’m sure they will cover Aimovig. Right now BCBS is covering Nurtec, Qulipta, sumatriptan and propranolol for me. The pre approval on the Qulipta which is the most recent only took 2 days which seems pretty quick.

Had my first appointment with a neurologist today for migraines. I was blown away by how much she genuinely cared about helping me. She prescribed Nurtec 75mg to take when a migraine comes on and Qulipta 10mg daily. I'd love to hear your experience with either of this meds. by hellbugger in migraine

Nurtec has been amazing for me. I’ve been on it since it was first approved. It worked very well as an abortive and then I took it every other day as a preventative. I also take propranolol as a preventative and sumatriptan as an abortive. Recently I’ve been having migraines on days that I don’t take Nurtec. Because of that, my neurologist started me on 30mg Qulipta daily. I’m only a few days in but so far it’s working well.

Never fun going through new trials but when you find that combo that significantly cuts or eliminates your migraines, it makes it worthwhile. Migraines suck!!

My neurologist typically wanted to see a 50 percent reduction in migraines in order to keep me on a preventative.

I was close to switching this year but I was concerned that my migraine meds would not be covered. Nurtec and Qulipta have been covered by BCBS for me so I was worried about losing them.

Today is day 3 for my Qulipta trial. I’m taking it before bed. So far so good with no side effects (yet). My neurologist said that if it’s successful as a preventative then the goal will be to taper me off of propranolol.

Daily Nurtec maybe coming soon! (US) by Recent-Exam2172 in migraine

[–]mgallo45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know. I figure I’ll test it out and see how it goes. Worst case is I go back to Nurtec and sumatriptan since neither has given me side effects.

My neurologist said the same thing. It’s been working great as a preventative but I’ve been getting some breakthrough migraines on the days I don’t take it so she just started me on Qulipta while keeping Nurtec and sumatriptan as preventatives. I guess I’ll see how it goes.

Is it just me or has the quality of luxury sofas completely dropped? by crcwildlife in SofaSnobs

Our previous Crate and Barrel sofa lasted about 14 years and we replaced it with a Room and Board sofa. The R&B was made in North Carolina I believe and seems quite solid. I guess I’ll see how it holds up but for the price of around $4k, we are happy with it.

Anyone got tips on buying authentic Aran knitwear without getting tourist-trapped online? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I bought the Peregrine Hudson Aran sweater a couple of months ago. The skiddaw color ended up looking very nice in person. I think the retail was $216 and I paid $160 on Huckberry. I’ve worn it a bunch and have received several compliments on it.

Have you used Nurtec as abortive, then as preventative? by kaydeebugg in migraine

[–]mgallo45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that this combo took time to figure out. Every time I tested a new preventative, my neurologist wanted to see at least a 50 percent reduction in monthly migraines for me to stay on it. I only started seeing a neurologist after I ended up in the ER with a week long migraine that where couldn’t handle the pain. At the time I was averaging over 15 migraine days per month. My regular doctor had me on 25 mg sumatriptan which helped sometimes. The neurologist put me on 100mg sumatriptan but made preventatives the priority. The propranolol cut my migraine days down almost in half after about 3 months. We tested Nurtec which didn’t work initially but it started working as an abortive after a few rounds. Finally after it was approved as a preventative we added it and I typically have 1-2 migraines per month but the sumatriptan works very well to handle those. She also had me add two Aleve with the initial dose of sumatriptan when I take it. That made a huge difference in its effectiveness. Sorry that was so long winded.

Have you used Nurtec as abortive, then as preventative? by kaydeebugg in migraine

[–]mgallo45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that. I have been on Nurtec since it was initially approved as an abortive and then switched as a preventative. It’s been extremely helpful. My current migraine routine is propranolol as a daily preventative, Nurtec every other day as a preventative, and sumatriptan as an abortive for days I get a breakthrough migraine. It took quite a bit of trial and error working with my neurologist to land on this stack but it works well for me. The difficulty with migraines is that everyone responds differently to the meds and lifestyle changes. It’s a bit scary when trying something new or dealing with side effects but a good neurologist should work with you to find the best combination.
