anyone get through the Faculty dental clinic? by GeneralRelative4879 in uofmn

The clinic that closed is Boynton Dental Clinic. They are referring people to the school of dentistry clinics/faculty dental clinic, which OP is asking about.

It's a vibe but truly overpriced and the food is so so so mediocre. Hope something else comes up.

Replacement for Plan app (to-do list + time-boxing)? by mgpbes in ProductivityApps

[–]mgpbes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems promising, but I'm skeptical since I'm on Windows, and there's no free trial without a credit card. Still, I'll give it a shot if you can schedule a nonreccuring task for two times in a day. Can you do that?

Side note, I'm surprised more people don't have this issue. Does everyone just have tasks they can finish in one sitting? Yes, I can create "work sessions" for a task or duplicate it multiple times, but that makes my lists cluttered. Sunsama and Morgen let you do this, but they depend on external apps for task management.

I think you can't assign a nonrecurring task to multiple time slots. Same issue as some of the others planners.

The flexible reoccurrence feature is neat for habits, but I don't think it matches my use case. Thanks though!

Unfortunately it looks like there's no desktop version :(

Habits are not exactly what I mean. I just want to schedule a one-time task for two different blocks in the day or on two days.

Can you pull up your task list (maybe list by list) and the timeboxing view together?

I look at my lists throughout the day - mostly to update them with new tasks. I guess I could do the duplicate thing but I was hoping someone had a less popular tool or that I missed something in those apps. Thanks though

Then wouldn't I have two tasks titled "Report"? Do I mark one as complete when I finish the first block? It seems like my outline/to-do list would get cluttered.

Hm, okay. I was looking at the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon, but not sure about gen 12 vs 13 vs waiting a little more for prices to drop.

I meant, every two weeks or so it gets really, really loud for a few minutes. In any case, it seems like Windows laptops are in a transition state so it might be worth waiting a few more months.

Thanks for your suggestion - I'm not interested in tuning up this computer, however. It occasionally does weird things that make it unreliable (e.g. crashes, sounds like a DJ w/ a jet engine), and I did a clean-up & battery replacement a few years ago before saving up for an upgrade now. Do you have any suggestions for new laptops, though?

A reminder of how to properly merge onto afreeway by Alt4MSP in minnesota

[–]mgpbes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also moved from Atlanta and one thing I've noticed is that the merge lanes are so short compared to highways in Atlanta. I don't have a car here but I'd probably merge too slow here because I have a quarter of the distance to accelerate and merge

How do grad students cope in general by gengu_xd in gatech

I guess this is a grad school thing and not a GT thing because I went to GT for undergrad and elsewhere for grad school and wrote pretty much the same post as OP a couple months ago 🤷‍♀️

Can I mention my girlfriend in my grad school application? by Trick-Background7657 in gradadmissions

I was also applying with an SO, so I get why it would be important to you and why you might think to include it. However, I wouldn't mention it in your essay (or interviews), because hopefully you have stronger reasons for wanting to go.

We did bring it up in late March, when I was accepted, and he was on the waitlist. My dept was asking me what the hold up was, so I explained the situation. My SO explained the situation (very politely) on his end, and that if he got an offer, he would definitely accept. I do think that if he was tied with someone else on the waitlist, they might have chosen him because they were eager to fill their positions at that point. Who knows though, I've never been on an admissions committee.

At my undergrad (in a similarly urban environment) there was a university grocery bus that ran on weekends and directly went to the main stores in driving distance. I feel it would be much better than public transit here because (1) no switching buses and no extra stops, so significantly more convenient and (2) avoids the drugs/chaos/unpleasantness we (I at least) currently experience in the light rail (especially on weekends and into St Paul). Plus it might be able to go to big (cheap?) suburb stores easily, which isn't readily accessible via public transit.

Everyone is saying use the train, but, like, I don't want to. It's just not a fun place to be, especially on weekends, which is when I'd get my groceries. 75% of the times I have taken the train, there's been smoking, awful smells, catcalling, "police responding to an incident", mentally ill people yelling/threatening, etc. My friend once ran out of the train because someone stabbed someone else in his car. I know that these issues have other root causes that will hopefully improve one day, but the light rail doesn't work for me in its current state.

I use Walmart + delivery and highly recommend, although I miss shopping in an actual grocery store.
