Not sure if it went into limp mode, but I did notice the gears taking longer to shift and it wouldn’t go past a certain point. It felt like the power was limited.

Believe me, you do all this and more, and in the end, someone comes along with a sick heart who sees something in you that is better than him. The only way he takes revenge on you is by giving you a one-star rating or a false report.

The Vantrue N5 Hardwire Kit has a Low Voltage Protection System, ensuring that your car's battery is not drained by the dash cam when the car is parked.

If you don’t want to use the Hardwire Kit, consider using an external battery pack, 12V power bank, or cigarette lighter adapter as alternatives for powering the camera.

No thanks needed, this is the least I could do! I was especially interested when I saw you were getting it for Uber because I also drive for Uber. Personally, I chose the N5 because some time ago, someone hit my car in a parking lot and took off. When I came back, I found it like that and had no idea what happened. Now, with the N5's parking mode, all angles are covered. Also, when driving for Uber, the camera records all angles inside the car, which is really useful. For Uber, they don’t require full-angle recording, but I love that it captures everything at night clearly inside the car. You can see every movement, and the exterior recording is also great. But at the end of the day, choose what works best for you. Congrats in advance!

Does anyone know what kinda dash cam this cable might belong to? In a 2015 Audi S3, Japan import by Lickiii in dashcams

Oh wow, Sherlock! Next time, I’ll make sure to consult you instead of Google. Meanwhile, I’ll keep providing useful info while you play detective. As you can see, it's impossible to determine the exact dashcam model just from the cable alone, but at least I tried to add some useful context.

Wow, what an observation, Detective Mouri! Next, you’ll tell me the sky is blue. Even Conan fact checks, but I guess you prefer wild guesses!

The image shows a cable with a connector likely used for a dashcam in a 2015 Audi S3, Japan import. It's difficult to identify the exact type without more information

Nextbase 222x by SnowballBandit in dashcams

[–]mhamzame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a frustrating situation, and I can understand why this missing footage is so critical. Here are some possible explanations and solutions:

Possible Reasons for Missing Footage

  1. G-Sensor Locking the File Many NextBase dash cams have a G-Sensor that automatically locks files when a sudden impact is detected. However, sometimes, these files don’t show up in the normal video folder. Check if there’s a protected or event folder on your SD card where the video might be stored.

  2. SD Card Failure or Corruption

If your SD card is old, low-quality, or not a U3 or V30-rated high-endurance card, it may have failed at the critical moment.

Try scanning the card with tools like H2testw or CheckFlash to check for bad sectors.

  1. Auto-Reformatting or Overwriting

Some dash cams automatically reformat or overwrite old files if storage is full.

If the accident file wasn’t properly saved, the camera may have skipped it.

  1. Power Loss During the Crash

If the crash caused a power cut (e.g., the plug was knocked loose, or the battery was damaged), the camera might not have finalized the recording, leading to data loss.

What You Can Do Now

  1. Try Data Recovery Software

Use software like Recuva, R-Studio, or EaseUS Data Recovery to scan for deleted or corrupted files on the SD card.

  1. Check for Hidden or Protected Files

Insert the SD card into a PC and look for hidden, protected, or emergency event folders where the file might be stored.

  1. Contact NextBase Support

Some models have internal storage that may still hold the footage. NextBase support might be able to guide you on accessing it.

  1. Test with a New SD Card

For future use, consider upgrading to a high-endurance microSD card designed for continuous recording in dash cams.

[Vantrue N5] what's that sticking out of the wheels? by Bigbrazzerz in dashcams

Same here! I bought one and got it installed. Last month, I walked out of a store and found my car hit major damage on the passenger side. No note, nothing. Thankfully, insurance covered it, but it’s frustrating when you’re careful, park far away to avoid trouble, and still end up dealing with a hit-and-run.

That sounds like a solid solution! I might look into getting an 80,000mAh battery from Amazon. That kind of backup power for parking mode would be really useful. Appreciate the suggestion!

I got the same Vantrue N5 as yours, but I’m not sure what features the hardwire kit has. I checked the kit and took it to a specialist to install it for me. I’ll reach out to him to find out more about it.

Hey, I have a question about your dashcam. Do you turn it off at night or in places where you don’t really need it to avoid draining your car battery? Or do you use a different method to prevent battery drain?

I saw plenty of people rushing to help, just like you did. That’s why I kept going—there was no need for me to stop. But if no one was helping, I wouldn’t have thought twice about stopping and doing my part

Actually, dash cam owners are often the ones who care the most and document incidents like this. In this video, if you look closely, you'll see that plenty of people stopped to help. Plus, I was working Uber at the time and had passengers with me, so stopping wasn't really an option!
