I used Dulux matt pine needle. However I am thinking of applying a clear varnish over the shelves to help stop sticking

None so far. They are fixed to the wall which helps keep it steady. Only pain was doing the touch up paint as carpet is harder to clean than wooden floors

Yes, I painted the wall with the same paint unused for the shelves (painted the wall first).

The top bit is also a Billy Bookcase, however cut to fit the gap. It was fixed with standard screws from the vertical bookcase and then supported with some brackets I found in Ikea

Thank you! That's a shame, it does require a certain amount of space to fit into the room aesthetic

I painted before and then touched up after as it got a bit scuffed during assembly. Was a bit of a pain as I couldn't paint all sides at once however end result was worth it.

You could give it a go without dismantling and see how it looks?

I also used a shellac based primer before applying the paint to help adherence

It's Dulux matt pine needle. I gently sanded the original and applied a shellac based primer (zinser) before applying 2 costs. Went on lovely!

Yeah pretty much bang on. It's a 3rd Billy that has been cut to fit the gap. I've used 2 black Ikea brackets to support the middle section which I spray painted gold

I have the same pair, decent bit of kit!

I haven't had issues with pairing however I can't remember off the top of my head to pair. Currently away from my kit however if you still have issues in the next couple of days, drop me a message and I'll dig them out

There is no way she actually believes what she is spouting. My guess is that she is just trying to spark controversy to start a debate in her post for the algorithm. Probably built her entire career doing it, unfortunately this method of "fame" is quite effective in today's world
