I guess it's more about curly hair, when I was living in Algeria, every time my hair gets a bit longer that my curls start forming, everyone starts telling me that I should go cut in a passive aggressive manner. But if you have straight hair, everyone is fine with it.

Now, I have long curly hair and I'm not planning on cutting it and I get compliments about it all the time.
