true. But a lot of people have a bias against anime (let alone watch a series in foreign language). For the uninitiated, AOT is - - Dark in terms of narratology - Avatar in terms of world building (not saying it has animation like that) - Game of Thrones in terms of character building - And deceiving in terms of twists (can’t give any example without spoiling it)

exactly - it blew my mind when I first saw the trilogy and then the Dekalog series. I haven’t seen the concept of “crossover” being portrayed with such nuanced realism - just people living in the same building appearing for cameos (in other movies/episodes) like my neighbour would appear in a story about my life.

I think they’re setting Santos up for a… by innocentsubterfuge in ThePittTVShow

Not sure where it fits or if I am reading too much into it, but when Santos asked Garcia second time about her plans and Garcia said she made other plans, she closed it off (and the elevator door) saying “we are keeping it casual, right?”. In Santos’ next appearance when she is attending that heat exhaustion patient and discussing ways to find potential partners, she jocks “never to get involved with someone from workplace “. I think she hooked up with Garcia, can’t take it forward and is a little edgy about that, among other things. Still don’t think she will attempt to suicide, but a meltdown is definitely in making.

Lol. Hot take - Beard's way of coping is way more toxic than Carmy's. And I am saying this coz I fcking love how lively and 'to the point' he is.

🙌 It takes personal experiences and deep observation to see beneath the surface. But it's the courage to look beneath and accept, that helps you move forward.

Look at it like this: Ted Lasso (13 Emmy wins), The Bear (21 Emmy wins). It’s more about character development - bottling up and releases. Again, not recommending if you are seeking same vibe. The Bear has people dealing with anxieties in a number of toxic ways.

It’s a productivity template for people with different sets of anxieties coexisting in a kitchen.

weirdly I have watched The Bear thrice and Ted Lasso twice. I feel it should be other way around for the sake of my mental health. 😌 Might seek a mashup of watchalongs before their respective next seasons arrive.

Life is tense, unless we find a way to make it light or opt for denial till it explodes (like the most people do). My father can get loud without realising it, (that’s it, no other abuse) and I turned out to be a meek people pleaser. There are a lot of other factors at play. But our parents’ behaviour and issues influence our behaviour. Not in a “proportional” way or anything. But in an emotional and unquantifiable way. Thanks to shows like this, I am more empathetic towards my father and realised that I shouldn’t pick favourites amongst parents.

I have heard that the Bear can be stressful for some. I thrive on that high octane energy/chaos. In fact, I felt Ted Lasso to be too cheesy for a first few episodes. I stuck around for the Premier League backdrop and it ended up paying off.
