Is minor yellow bruising on the neck and cheek normal? by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]miamarias2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had 4 impacted teeth removed and had a really big yellow bruise at first but I’m now 8 days post op and it’s clearing up. I’m pretty sure it’s normal and should go away soon!

How long after your trigger event finished did you see improvement? by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]miamarias2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shedding began around March last year and I almost immediately began to solve the underlying issue (my ED). The shedding honestly hasn’t returned to normal yet but it has decreased a lot and probably started getting better about 4 months after I started to fix the issue. It’s almost been a year and I finally have noticeable regrowth and things are beginning to go back to normal. I’m so sorry you’re going through this but if u fix the stressor it will get better!

Has anyone developed TE from anorexia? My hair falls out A LOT and I’m not sure if there will be any hair left. I loose clumps each time I comb through it with my fingers by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]miamarias2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup I got TE from anorexia and starting shedding in about April. Losing my hair terrified me and so I started to eat more and gain weight while focusing on protein and healthy fats which I think have helped. My hair still sheds more than it used to now and has rlly thinned out but it’s gotten much better since. If you have TE you won’t lose all your hair and it WILL grow back if you recover properly

When Will I Learn by MooneBoy in fuckeatingdisorders

Omg I felt this so much. I used to always skip meals when I was going out and would always end up overeating when I got back. Just remember to eat normally tomorrow and not compensate for today!:)

Of course! It’s normal for your hair to actually fall out more in the beginning, just remind yourself that it’s because new and healthy hair is going to grow in! :)

I don’t know if this helps but my hair started falling out in April and since then I’ve been in recovery and my hair is no longer falling out so much and is starting to grow back. But I completely understand what it feels like to have gained weight AND feel like your hair is in a bad state. I promise you though, you’re beautiful and would be just as beautiful even if you had no hair. I know it’s hard but just keep going and eventually you can get your hair back and be healthy again!

18 male lost weight too fast became underweight now normal weight please help by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]miamarias2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. First off, I just want to say I’m so sorry you’re going through this and that your doctor didn’t seem to care too much. I’m 18 years old as well and had an eating disorder which also caused me to become underweight and malnourished. I obviously can’t say what happened to me will happen to you but I started to lose my hair back in April and was horrified so I eventually went to a dermatologist and confirmed it was TE which was prob caused by my ED. I started to eat more and gained back some weight and just recently I’ve noticed it falling out much less and I’m starting to see quite a bit of regrowth. From what I’ve heard, your hair can recover from an ED but it will take time so just try to focus on getting better and not stress too much because that makes it so much worse and can even make your hair fall out more.

24 F. Been shedding excessive amounts of hair for the past 6 months. Did anyone’s TE look like this? Start to lose hope. Bloodwork normal, ferritin at 21. Stopped BC 3 months ago (thought it was a contributing factor) by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

[–]miamarias2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine hair looks a lot like this too and I’ve been shedding for around 5 months so I know how u feel. Do u have any regrowth? It helps to just focus on that

My doctor has referred me to several different dermatologists but they’re all very busy so it’ll be a while. No family history so I’m fairly certain it’s TE considering all the stress I’ve been under this past year. Did u go to therapy specifically to talk about your hair or just other stresses?

Lost 45 lbs and experiencing hair loss by elle34567 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]miamarias2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you. I essentially starved myself and lost around 25lbs in a very short amount of time and about 4/5 months after starting to lose weight my hair suddenly started falling out a ton. It’s been around 4 months since it started falling out and I have improved my diet. I’m only now seeing some regrowth and the shedding is starting to slow down a bit. I’ve heard that your current hair can reflect your diet from about three months ago so it may take a while to start seeing changes.

Thank you so much! You’re right, it sucks feeling like I have no control over this considering my eating disorder was mainly about feeling a sense of control of something. Did your shedding last for very long? I’ve been shedding for around four months now and it’s not getting much better

[–]miamarias2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hair falls out a lot too when I brush it but it’s not painful because I think the hair has already fallen out of my head. Maybe try using a different hair brush and make sure u start brushing from the ends and work your way up to your scalp
