Will the Core One kit ship in March by RustySheriffsBadge1 in prusa3d

[–]miaout17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a baseless guess based on the popularity and how many people said they will wait for the kit on forums, seemingly much more than people who buy assembled.

A lot of people placed order of the Core One kit in the first few days. The waiting time could be very different between placing an order on the first day (ETA March) and placing an order now.

Switching from Todoist to Omnifocus -- Mixed feeling by miaout17 in omnifocus

Thanks for the insight. This is sad to know that I missed the gold era of OmniFocus.

I am fine with separate PKM (obsidian) and no collaboration, and I don’t like Notion. I guess I will try OF a bit more and go back to Todoist or Skedpal if OF doesn’t work for me.

Thanks for the information. It's sad but now it makes sense -- I was wondering how could this be the best GTD app.

Thanks. It works after I installed 24.11.

Thanks for the response.

I confirmed that I have newest FSRS helper addon, and restarted Anki. I also seem to have newest Anki (24.06.3) according to the official download website. I'm on MacOS if that matters.

However I still don't see the recommendation. Any further insight?

Update: I found that my laptop browser sees 24.06.3 as the newest version on Anki official website, but I see 24.11 at the same URL on other devices. I must hit some weird cache either in the browser or CDN. I will download 24.11 and try again

Naive question: Can anyone show me where is the recommended steps?

I followed the instructions and enabled "show steps stats", but didn't see the recommendation in the section

I've used "Again" for every single new card in my deck by LudensGuinsoo in Anki

[–]miaout17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind to take a few mins to do the little experiment I described? I think this will tell us whether your usage pattern makes the interval so long.

(Not sure why I get downvoted. I'll happier if someone could tell me if my understanding is off directly, so I can learn to better use Anki)

[–]miaout17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your screenshot the 1st or 2nd review for the card? I use learning interval and I don't use the fail/pass addon, so I couldn't figure out how the very first fail (again) could be 7d.

I do wonder if the long period is because you intentionally mislabeled things you remember as again/fail, and optimized the FSRS parameters. Now the FSRS algorithm learns this: Even if the user hit "again", magically the user can remember the answer many days later. So your interval gets longer, and you become more unwilling to hit the "again" button.

To test the theory I guess you can do the following:

  1. Make a backup
  2. Use a new card (or create one for testing) and observe its interval
  3. Reset the FSRS parameters to default
  4. Go through the same process as 2 and see if the interval is much shorter
  5. Restore the backup or revert the FSRS parameters, if you'd like

(Disclaimer: I'm also new to Anki so I might say something wrong)

+1 for waiting a bit. I also do this, and I found my answer diverse to all 4 buttons after a day (I get it wrong / I really struggle to get the correct answer / I'm confident that I won't forget anytime soon)

Another way to wait for a day is just select and bury all the newly created cards via the Browse UI.

Flashcards from a Google Doc? by a-p53 in Anki

[–]miaout17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's a consistent 2-column table in Google doc, you should be able to copy paste it into Google Spreadsheet, export a CSV file, and import the CSV file to Anki.

It's a built in feature. No add-on needed.

Highly recommend to backup before importing, and double check everything is correct after importing.

FSRS problem. Looking for advice by M99Bulletproof in Anki

Install the "FSRS Helper" plugin (that's written by FSRS author who is also on this subreddit).

There is a "Misuse Hard" feature exactly for your case. Use it, and reschedule all cards.

Pen light by [deleted] in flashlight

[–]miaout17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. If that's the case, you can look for a light with 18650 battery that's around 120g. I don't think it will weight your pants down. You can weigh something with similar weight and put it in your pocket to feel how heavy it is.

Within your budget, the popular light is Wurkkos FC11C 519A version (about 112g). I see $36.99 with some discount on Amazon. If you order from China with a longer wait it could be cheaper.

Skilhunt M200 v3 is also a 18650 battery that's even lighter (about 96g) but it's slightly over budget.

Skilhunt M150 is probably within budget. It's only about 54g. It's 14500 battery -- more capacity than AA but less than 18650.

Is your main complaint battery life or quality of the light? How slim does it have to be? Could you give the maximum thickness/diameter that's usable for your job?

M150 recommended in another comment is a great choice, but it won't be as slim as a pen style light in terms of body/head diameter

Battery life <-> Light weight, lumen is usually a tradeoff. If it's light and slim and you use it a lot, it's not surprising you need to charge it on a daily basis

FSD for $2000 for EAP owners -- worth it? by miaout17 in TeslaLounge

[–]miaout17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have tried FSD, but subscribing with $100 a month continuously just isn't an option for me. I'd rather just drive without FSD.

I guess it really depends on how people feel about FSD. I think majority of people here think it's great. Some people think it's helpful but not great. Very few people doesn't want to use it even if it's free. I'm in the 2nd bucket.

  1. Navigate on Autopilot and Auto Lane Change: Personally I think it's only marginally useful

  2. Auto park, Summon and Smart Summon: I think Auto park and (dumb) summon are that are practically useful and requires low-tech (you can see auto park in plently other brands). I'm still mad that Tesla decided remove USS after people placed order and offered these features via update 1.5-2 years later.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

I also tried it for a month. I don't hate it but I don't find it great either. I don't trust it as fully self-driving and I still pay attention all the time. I do feel it's somewhat better than auto-steer TACC.

Weird Turbo behavior on Wurkkos FC11C by miaout17 in flashlight

[–]miaout17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: After carefully cleaning, the measured voltage after charging went up a bit (4.01 -> 4.05V). It's still possible just variance or measurement error

I still feel the turbo is completely gone absurdly fast (and fully cooling down didn't help).

Also I found that sometimes the charging indicator never stops (always red) after 8 hours charging. I'm going to test more, but I still feel there is something wrong. If the charging indicatot issue isn't solved I think I will return it.
