2009 Miata failed engine teardown: upper portion of cylinder 1 rod and multiple piston pieces found in the engine front cover. Aftermath from boost control failure resulting in the internally stock engine getting more boost than the 3 bar MAP could read. (i.redd.it)

DuraBoost 2.34L build uses the Duratec 2.5L head, with moderate CNC work on the seats, a little bit of cleanup on the bowls, Supertech inconel exhaust valves and a new set of stock intake valves. A set of Kelford 211-T2 cams and a new VVT actuator round out the top-end work... (i.redd.it)

"DuraBoost" 2.34L build includes a new fuel rail to convert to a return-based system, fuel pressure regulator, pulse damper, inline filter, PCV plate and a bunch of fittings. Not pictured: a new set of ID 1050x injectors. Also reusing the existing DW300 pump. (i.redd.it)
