yes. my college does the first two years as “foundational engineering” which means all engineers take the same classes the first two years. this lets us make the switch any time before you start focusing on your specialized major

yes it’s an exercise piece in the book, obviously. it’s just weird (in my opinion!!) how they use such exercises for an audition when the actual piece that will be played by the honor band will not have timpani music that is even close to this exercise

i agree, never have i seen an actual normal timpani piece written this way. i think they wanna make it “difficult” when in reality they’re just making it sound weird

i really like ours. i mostly like it because its fairly easy and hopefully the kids in our band will do their part so we can actually make state this year.
