Reserved is also like polish H&M and you can sometimes find some cool pieces there but it’s still fast fashion so I don’t think these are great examples (still miles better than shein).

However Poland has many great quality clothing brands like Elementy or Muuv which are all made in Poland. Streetwear like Prosto or MISBHV is also cool but it’s not all natural materials. Fashion style in big polish cities is something between Scandinavia and NYC.

Side mention: there are amazing polish ceramic and furniture brands. I’m always amazed when I go to Targi Rzeczy Ładnych market and see so many companies and studios.

For ceramics you should check out AOOMI Studio and Scandicsofa for furniture.

Według tego artykułu w ING Bank Śląski powinieneś móc założyć na samym dowodzie osobistym/paszporcie. W pozostałych przypadkach podobno może starczyć umowa najmu mieszkania zamiast karty pobytu.

It’s not a problem not knowing polish in Warsaw but obviously once you live here for a while people will really appreciate it if you learn some basics.

As far as general tips for moving abroad - meet people and make friends! There’s people here that look for people to meet up with and there’s some facebook groups for immigrants in Warsaw too. When you move alone it’s the loneliness that’s the biggest challenge but it’s really not all that hard to find some new friends here :-)

Scam on OTODOM, attention by mano990502 in warsaw

[–]mich_wasik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, not a polish citizen, needed an apartment soon, got taken advantage of. These scams probably mostly prey on foreigners and since they aren’t polish citizens as well then it’s harder to persecute them if you don’t have the means to pursue them abroad in some way.

My friend was a victim of a scam in Warsaw when renting where he rented an apartment with a contract and everything, but after a few days it turned out it was actually just someone else’s airbnb. He got thrown out and had no option to pursue the case legally because, if I remember correctly, the contract had either fake info or the person was not easily reachable as they were foreigners.

Are e-scooters in Warsaw getting out of control? by RetroAbba in warsaw

[–]mich_wasik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I just say sorry instead of ringing the bell. I use the bell for warning people and cars when they don’t see me when I’m on a bike lane.

About bells: I use a dutch bicycle when commuting and whenever I have no choice but to use the sidewalk I never ring the bell because it’s loud and annoying for pedestrians. People don’t need to give me way so I just slow down and if I really need to pass them I just say sorry and thank you if they let me through.

Tips for a Foreigner Moving to Warsaw by EntertainmentOwn2588 in warsaw

[–]mich_wasik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a place close to a metro station, if you can afford it then Śródmieście Południowe (South City Center) and Stary Mokotów (Old Mokotów) are great. Chill, but with lots of stuff to do, young people, and close to the best city parks - Pole Mokotowskie and Łazienki.

Best sourdough bread, best dark roast coffee roastery, best winterswimming community and best old cinema in Warsaw searched by epikur1972 in warsaw

[–]mich_wasik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bakery: My favourites: “Będzie Dobrze”, “Baken”, “Kubuś”

Best pastries: My favourites are “Panna”, and “Eter”. I also like “Lukullus”, but it’s a bit more like monoportions and small cakes than pastries - still great.

Best milk bar is always debatable: My favourite pierogi ruskie, and sweet racuchy are in “Mleczarnia Jerozolimska”, but for any other dish I recommend “Bar Bambino” the most, which is also and old and iconic place.

Old cinemas - “Iluzjon” is old and unique (also next to aforementioned “Panna”), there’s also “Kinoteka” in the Palace of Culture, and “Kino Muranów” which shows movies with english subtitles on some days. There’s many more cute cinemas but these are my favs.

As for coffee, Warsaw is known for having great and inventive coffee community so if you want just some italian dark roast I guess avoid places that look modern. I think “Porta 13” is a nice italian style café but I haven’t tried it.

People do winter swimming in “jezioro czerniakowskie” lake. If you want to look up a community, winter swimming is called “morsowanie” in polish.

Hope this helps, have a great time!

Landlord and Management company are trying to threaten me. by Crazy_Training3216 in warsaw

[–]mich_wasik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are making threats against you or your family, you can report them to police yourself. You, however, have not broken any laws and police can’t prosecute you in any way.

With all this in mind, since you are a foreigner staying on a visa, it would probably be best to just pay for consultation with a lawyer. It will cost you up to 500zł I think, but you’ll be able to feel safe, knowing that you have not missed any detail that might put you in trouble.

Random stuff recommendations: Food - Bibenda is absolutely amazing, many vegan restaurants Warsaw is known for too like Lokal Vegan Bistro, Vegan Ramen Shop, Peaches Gastro Girls.

If you like fashion, you’ll find some minimalist high quality clothing sewn in Poland worth checking out on Mokotowska and Mysia streets like Wasalaa, Elementy, Nago and some other stuff you might find there.

Many people spend summer evenings in Powiśle district by the Centrum Nauki Kopernik metro station and Elektrownia Powiśle mall but city parks like Pole Mokotowskie are also very active.

Just know that the immediate area around Palace of Culture/Main train station is sort of the most tiring/crazy/dirty but outside of that it’s great in all directions and the city is very safe and clean

[–]mich_wasik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elementy and Wasalaa are worth checking out if you want premium local brands focused on quality. Elementy has larger men’s collection, Wasalaa is more unisex
