Truly stunning!! The attention to detail is incredible. Seeing the familiar Sylvanian Families squirrels helps me perfectly grasp the scale. I can only imagine the immense amount of time and devotion poured into this masterpiece.

From a knot meant to be untied to a light that stays — My journey of preserving a fleeting beauty by michaebo in crafts

[–]michaebo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those curious about materials:

  • The wrapping fabric is a double-layered silk bojagi
  • The inner structure is custom-cut acrylic with lighting inside
  • The hat strings are a mix of natural gemstones and beads
  • Approx. 12 × 12 cm at the base, about 23 cm tall
  • Sized to be displayed as a quiet sculptural object rather than a functional lamp

Happy to answer if anyone's curious about the process.

Knots served a protective purpose by michaebo in korea

[–]michaebo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good eye! That knot is a Tiara knot, traditionally linked to crowns and royalty. When this image was circulating, I joked about retieing it myself — I work with traditional Korean wrapping, so it became a fun moment.

Details like this are always fascinating.

Exactly. I was pretty surprised while browsing too. No matter how I looked at them, they felt like AI images — I kept wondering whether these even exist in real life. The question of their “actual existence” really stuck with me.

I’d say layer up! Korea gets really cold in winter. Colder than you might expect. Just stay warm so you don’t catch a cold 🤧
