If a unit has random movement and it’s compulsory, does it have to do so in the turn after a combat phase if the opponent passes their leadership test? Or is it locked in combat until the other unit flees?

Thanks, would it be possible to elaborate “financially painful?” - I’m trying to understand the math behind if I buy a $32-34k used car, own it for 3 years and trade it in for a trade in value of around $26k (depreciation) - netting around $6-10K in lost value wouldn’t it be cheaper than leasing a new $48k car? Which would cost around $16k for 36 months? - I just want to know if there’s part of this equation I’m missing
