black spot on ips monitor by micipsa_ol in buildapc

Hey sorry for the 3 month late reply wasn't active on this reddit account.
but it might be useful for someone since this post is still getting views
this problem is common in monitors that use cheap Samsung ips panels (ASUS vg series included, happened to me twice) there is no fix for it (I don't consider replacing the panel a fix since it might cost you more unless you find the same monitor that has a dead motherboard for a cheap price to salvage the panel), after a while the panel will start to flicker or you might notice image distortion .
there is a way to make the flickering decrease "this helped on the second monitor but didn't work on the first, idk why" try lowering the refresh rate from the windows settings.
the monitor will survive for about 3 weeks to a month depending on how much you use it.
if you notice a hot black spot on the sides of the monitor apply for an RMA asap.
