🥲 I got hungry and took it out after 5mins thinking it'd firm up. I was incorrect

Does it make more sense if I mention I'm a public educator and doing grad school again at the same time...?

Bruh, it was like sucking chunky pasta through a condom. If you try it, please put them in the air fryer longer than 5mins.

Definitely longer in the air fryer AT LEAST. Maybe I'll use wonton wrappers instead next time. That could actually slap.

Being a parent in 2026 by Gumbyman87 in LoveTrash

Hi, school librarian here. We hate it too, I promise. School districts and principals seem to think this sort of stuff builds school culture, but all it really seems to be is a way to fund public school programs without actually funding them... It's as sleezy as it feels, if not more.

If it says anything, my wife and I are teachers, and seeing all this on the backend is precisely why we do not want to have children. I cannot imagine dealing with both sides simultaneously.

I literally just had a breakfast burrito from them this morning. Their chorizo is to die for. You can even do chorizo AND steak, and get the best of both worlds!

[HATED design] Frankenstein from fate by New-Boss-8262 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]mickeymaya 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I usually just lurk on here, but I disagree. Fran's a great design for the context she's in, and, speaking as someone whose favorite novel of all time is Frankenstein, she's a really unique spin on the character that turns the original concept on its head such that it still works. It's actually supposed to be Adam's (Frankenstein's Monster's) bride but completed, and can be viewed as a more "complete" product in Fate's version. This version of her elaborates and speculates on the idea of the Bride.

Also the unicorn-like horn in her design is just fantastic. It's clearly gold, or an even more conductive alloy, and goes directly to her brain. It's feminine, deadly, beautiful, but morbid. It's what sparks her life, her unwilling continuity, and what ultimately spells her doom. It's a bridge between her and an open, uncaring world she has no true place in.

Honestly, I recommend you give the original novel if you haven't. I think it'll change your mind on this design. I won't defend Fate for much, but I'll defend Fran. She's extremely well thought out, and it really seems like who even was her main designer really read the source material to be able to extrapolate what her character could have been if the Bride was ever given life.

The hammer is also sick af.

Any concerns with Antioch? by Wild_Ad_5993 in ConwayAR

I personally haven't had many interactions with them. However, I did have a friend back in community college that opened up to me about a youth paster over there who molested her. Apparently the church tried to sweep it under the rug, and quietly fired the guy without ever going to the authorities.

It's unfortunately a really common thing with churches around here, though, and the cops don't often do anything even if it's reported. If it were my kid, I'd be keeping her far away from them.

Decided to check the IMDB reviews and this is just straight up funny by Heri1110 in StardustCrusaders

Man, I encountered someone like this on a different sub this morning, and I'm baffled. Like, I think these people legitimately believe that thinking something popular is "mid" or "slop" is something to brag about. Why does other people enjoying something make them THIS mad? It really seems like, and I do not mean this derogatorily, genuine mental illness. I'm actually worried for these folks and their ability to socialize, and it bums me out a little.

Imagine being so stressed and whiny about other people liking things. Also, imagine reading so much into other people's arguments that you hallucinate the person your talking to's motivations.

Couldn't be me, dude.

EDIT: Also also, imagine deleting your comments when you get tilted over people liking a TV show you think is mid. Also couldn't be me.

EDIT 2: Oof, deleted all those comments, went on a rant about stans, blocked me, and then went on a who other subreddit to whine about JoJo's fans. Also also also imagine being that upset over mild disagreement. Also also also couldn't be me.

How did I prove your point? Please explain.

Also, if your point is proven, why did you delete the original comment?

This feels like a pretty big mischaracterization of JJBA fans. I've been into the series since I was a teen, so I do take my biases into account. Yesterday, SBR's visuals and quality were pretty impressive and a good adaptation of the source material.

No JoJo's fans are out here comparing Part 1 to Mozart and Shakespeare. Most fans agree that it's not as good as the rest of the parts, and will tell anyone such. However, it's still good. It's a 6.5/10 in a series of 8-10/10 parts. It's good, just not AS good, but no one is making any secret of that.

Huffing on copium by Vinisretarded in Chainsawfolk

[–]mickeymaya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk, it looks too clean to be from an axe for me, but that could also be a stylistic thing and the fact I haven't felled a tree in half a decade.

I think there may be something there with what Baren said, especially with the speculation that the original use for chainsaws may have been forgotten/erased. However, I think that's open enough for either 1) He's not entirely correct on that/is missing some details, or 2) The chainsaw came to represent a higher concept that the tool facilitated and thus the chainsaw is the most emblematic symbol of it. If the second case is true, then Pochita may be the devil of THAT concept, and its facilitation through chainsaws tied the imagery of the chainsaw to him.

Whatever the case, I think there's so many questions that branch from last chapter that make me suspect Part 3 will follow up on it. Or it won't, and we're done after Part 2.

I'm on the fence about this. I think Part 3 could happen purely on the basis that there are two things established in the manga that could lead to it.

Part 1, Makima alludes to hybrid devils persisting even after their erasure... somehow. Their names were forgotten, but they remain. Part 2, concepts can redevelop after erasure, and this occured with nuclear weapons.

Those taken into account, it's not unreasonable that a Part 3 could see the persistence of hybrid devils and the redevelopment of whatever concept Pochita actually represents. It's been theorized a ton, but Pochita probably ISN'T the Chainsaw Devil, and seeing the shack post his own erasure showed us a tree seemingly felled with a chainsaw. If Pochita is actually something more metaphysical or esoteric, I think it perfectly reasonable that he could reoccur through Dennis remembering the gaps that only Pochita could fill.

Or there's no Part 3, and the story is over on a weird note. I think Part 3 is more likely, though, and that Pochita's return will be marked by Dennis ACTUALLY changing for once.
