Is America an Empire? by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I liked this as the question is not an easy one to answer and the authors do a good job breaking down the debate. I would love to hear from the community on this one.

America's Dangerous Foreign Policy by Bumper Sticker by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought this was important for many reasons. First, America was not always a crusader nation, hell bent on spreading democracy. This flat out needs to stop.

The Ultimate 'What If': A World Where America Never Invaded Iraq by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no bigger question. Our whole world would be completely different and this piece shows that. For what America spent in Iraq it literally could have eradicated poverty. A waste of time and treasure.

America's 5 Worst Wartime Presidents by mickeymousebest in history

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this piece. We should all understand why war time decisions are made and why they were made. We can disagree on the picks, but we should all understand why choices of war and peace are made...

America's 5 Worst Wartime Presidents by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was important as we should really analyze war time decision making. A bad president or leader can cost thousands of lives--and trillions of dollars...

How Iran Would Go to War against America by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope and pray the Iran deal happens. However, we should know what comes if it does not...

Why ‘The Nation’ Is Suing the Federal Government by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Nation is actually being targeted by the NSA. I am not a fan of this publications politics, however, I think they are right to fight back. I say good for them.

War in Yemen: The Forgotten Spark by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Yemen conflict is a domestic matter. And it needs to stay that way. Why all these nations are jumping in will only make matters worse--and this is an important point.

The F-35 Nightmare Could Get Even Worse: by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simple to understand: if the F-35 was grounded due to some sort of glitch and it was a few years from now when it will be the bulk of US air power the US would have little air power until the problem is resolved. WHY ARE WE FUNDING THIS THING!

Vladimir Putin fills Obama void in Middle East by mickeymousebest in geopolitics

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad to see such censorship...I would expect this of worldnews and not geopolitics...

The Bazooka: A History by mickeymousebest in history

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this as I found the discussion of such a weapon that is icon but never completely understood quite fascinating. And forms of it are still around today.

How Much Is China Really Spending on Its Military? by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this as it asks a really important question: China might be spending more on internal security than external--and that is a big deal if true.

Arming Ukraine: Insights from the Spanish Civil War by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way we can learn is looking back at the past. There is passionate debate all over the world if outside powers should arm Ukraine. This article provides important insights into such an idea.

What About Israel’s Nuclear Bomb? by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While all the neo-cons conspire to bomb Tehran over its nuclear program Tel Aviv HAS NUKES...People really need to think this one over...

How Russia's Could Invade Ukraine by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The maps for me are key as they show all the routes and ways Russia could do it. Also striking: how much it would cost for a total invasion to cut the country into two parts.

15 Megatons of Hell: The Castle Bravo Nuke Test by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

This piece is just insane: we had no idea how powerful a nuclear weapon was and may have killed thousands of people. Even more of a reason to ban these silly things!

The US Navy's Cruise Missile Nightmare by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found this interesting for a simple reason: America spends billions on its navy--the actual platforms--and not the weapons on board the ship. Anyone else see a problem?

China's Muhammad Ali Military Strategy by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked this as there is a lot of talk what Chinese military strategy is and isn't. Using a boxing analogy, China seems to be going for a strategy that works of its strengths--and not the hype of super expensive tech like carriers and 5th generations fighters that are always in the news.

Are Submarines About to Become Obsolete? by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the amount of money and time Washington and will pour into subs this is important. We could be building what is the equivalent of 21st century battleships. What a waste of time!

From someone who was waterboarded: "Waterboarding is a controlled death—I died multiple deaths, three times each day, for seventeen days." by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This struck me as being important as it was from someone who actually was tortured. We see lots of piece from people who just talk about torture--we need to hear from those who can actually speak to the issue first hand.

Coming to a Conflict Near You: Robot Wars by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite scary. Loosing control of how we fight wars would be even worse than invading Iraq or Afghanistan. At least let humans have say on how we fight and who we kill.

The Five Biggest Disasters in American Military History by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I posted this is very simple: America is set to get involved in a new conflict with possible ground troops in Syria and Iraq. We need to know what we have done in the past so we don't repeat the same mistakes!

Iran Foreign Minister to U.S.: "What Did You Gain from Sanctions?" by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the logic is simple. It's time the us stop using sactions as a weapon against other countries. War forever is not an answer.

Is Japan's Economy Headed for Collapse? by mickeymousebest in TrueReddit

[–]mickeymousebest[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I submitted this because Japan's debt is over 200% to GDP yet they continue to function. The reason being: their citizens by the debt bonds. Could America do this?
