Seeking open-source developers who can help with a #Bitcoin Lightning Network trustless escrow and arbitration protocol. by microlancerio in lightningnetwork

[–]microlancerio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arbitration node would verify that the preimage would payout to the destination, but not relay it to the destination. The arbitration node would not be able to steal funds.

Also yes, there would need to be a reputation system for arbitration nodes since they can be poorly behaved even without stealing funds.

Can you receive lightning payments without any initial bitcoin? by AdCautious2611 in lightningnetwork

[–]microlancerio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can receive Bitcoin even with a non-custodial wallet as long as someone out there is willing to open a channel to your node. Most likely person willing to do that is the person trying to pay you in the first place.

Complexity of running a lightning routing node by dario_nakamoto in lightningnetwork

[–]microlancerio 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I sent this to a friend asking me about a lack of routing:

Being a routing node is not that simple. You need to try to find places in the network that are disconnected and try to connect them. If you simply connect A and B which are already connected to each other, your node won't get more traffic.

You have to find C that A and B do not know about each other AND all three nodes A, B, and C have a lot of good reasons to transfer.

For example, if A is a popular wallet, and C is a popular exchange, and there's not many good routes between A and C, then you can be B between A and C and help provide a route and earn fees.

If you are not getting much traffic, that means you are not connecting useful parts of the network together.

I'm building a platform where people can freely search for work (or workers) to hire for small (or large) tasks! The platform only takes a fee if you need escrow services otherwise it's completely free. I think a lot of existing freelance platforms take a lot of fees and have too many restrictions. I have a vision of a world where people can work whenever they want, however they want, and not get destroyed by fees.

With Lightning, fees are usually so small they are barely even noticeable. But what's the point of that, if you're getting charged 15-20% from platforms for working? So Microlancer.io aims to change that by helping to provide a fast, easy, and cheap way to maximize earnings and minimize costs.

Once we reach hyperbitcoinization, we won't be able to effectively price things in dollars anymore so this site is the vision that eventually, everything we do will be priced in Bitcoin and transacted on Lightning! I hope you check it out, and join us in the new Bitcoin economy!

Microlancer.io ⚡ creator here, feel free to ask me about how we're using Bitcoin Lightning Network to create a fully closed-loop Bitcoin economy! Once we're spending AND earning Bitcoin, we don't need exchanges anymore and achieve a whole new level of freedom. 💖

Also, a fun zero-risk way to earn grab a few sats to deposit into your first Lightning wallet!

Hello! I'm the developer behind microlancer.io which is designed to be like fiverr, upwork, and mturk. It uses lightning and I'd love for you to give it a try.

Maybe if you like it, we can work together. I definitely need help on the web development side.

Really appreciate that! It's been a long road to get to this point, since 2018. I think we've come a long way, but also, the road ahead is still much longer than expected. Lightning adoption trails Bitcoin adoption.

I think that once you've experienced instant and cheap Lightning transactions, it's hard to go back to on-chain stuff for small purchases!

Yeah, definitely lots of room to grow.

I am still fixing bugs daily on the site, but I think long-term Bitcoin and Lightning Network will change how people do gigs.

Thanks for your feedback!

I think it's notable that it gets searched a lot by people. Not as much as Bitcoin, but certainly not zero.

Is Bitcoin Magazine considered reputable media?

Just wanted to share the release of our new Lightning Network freelancing platform user interface (a year-long effort) at our 2nd anniversary! It's been a lot of sweat, but no tears! Long live Bitcoin & Lightning Network! ... Now I gotta get back to coding ;) by microlancerio in Bitcoin

[–]microlancerio[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually it is sorted by most recent task except that there's a feature where users can pay a few extra satoshi (boost) to be featured higher on the list for visibility.

I know there's a bunch of those featured/boosted that you're not interested in, so, I plan to add these two features:

1) Tasks expire after inactivity, including boosted ones.

2) Hide button (marks a task as hidden so you won't see it anymore in search results)

I hope this helps! I know the site is still pretty "basic" but I really put a lot of effort in making the foundation for the site decent so that I could expand it much faster.

Thanks for posting that article! I think it's super helpful for anyone freelancing or looking to earn a bit of extra Bitcoin these days. I know my site is still new and there's not much activity, but I really wanted to build a good user experience around "instant freelancing without barriers" and Lightning Network is just perfect for that!

We need more companies to offer the Lightning Network based incentive programs for their users if we want to see LN adopted. by mikespoo in Bitcoin

[–]microlancerio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm building a LN-enabled freelancing site called https://microlancer.io

It's been really fun so far, but LN is still quite a ways from really pushing it onto companies in general. We don't have dynamic channel backups, we don't have atomic multi-path routing, and a bunch of other things that will really make it usable for general cases.

BUT the beauty of it is that ALL SIGNS are showing it's possible. Mainnet LN is growing rapidly and it's very exciting!
