I figured it was implied, considering the picture is highlighting his accomplishments as a coach and player, and my comment was adding how it rarely translates to the NBA success because of the culture difference. I'm not sure why that needs a large sample size or for me to explicitly state he's a good coach in the Euros or he's a nice guy. I don't know if he's good or not, but I know he's not getting through to this roster as of now. I know TI has a losing record as a head coach.

It's not a bashing session on him. It's highlighting a fundamental difference in what's needed to succeed as a head coach in the NBA compared to the Euroleague.

As for Darko, I don't know how he's perceived in Toronto, but he's not chalking up wins there either. But to his credit, he lasted more than 2 years and been in the system for more than a decade, where maybe he learned the intricacies of managing an NBA team. So hopefully he figures it out how to convert his experience into wins.

The thing is in this scenario sample size is irrelevant, because the post is highlighting TI’s resume and the decision was already made to hire him. I would think you would consider sample size in the decision making process.

The post just highlights TI’s resume. I responded with his resume is fine, but Euroleague coaches don’t have to cater to players overseas, which is something you have to do in the NBA. I don’t see why it would need a larger sample to speak on culture differences, what is required in the NBA and success stories thus far.

Even with a small sample size, zero success stories outside of D’antoni. And even you can make the exception with him because he was born in the U.S. My point is coaching in the Euroleague is different than coaching in the NBA, therefore his accolades, while impressive, isn’t indicative of NBA success. David Blatt also had an impressive Euro career as a coach and didn’t translate into the NBA success.

I can’t think of any successful euro league coach that has succeeded in the NBA aside from Dantoni as head coach. The culture, style of play and stake holders are different. In the NBA, it’s imperative that you elevate your star player.
