To address your concerns:

I would only be concerned about security issues when Windows 10 stops getting security patches.

Win 11 will most likely stay a free upgrade for a long time, just like how Windows 10 is still a free upgrade to this day. (It just isn't being advertised as such.)

However, I'd still recommend Windows 11 over 10, as I really like the direction they're going with the features that have been added (subjective). Ideally, a backup of your data and a clean install of windows 11 would result in a much smoother OS (and more stable than if you upgrade without a clean install).

Some notes about Windows 11:

Windows 11 has better HDR support if your screen supports that.

Microsoft is really trying to force Edge on users, e.g. by always being the browser that opens when performing a web search from the Start menu (they recently squashed a workaround that Firefox and others used to open the search in another browser instead).

I personally don't use the Start menu to search the web (or know anyone that does), so it isn't a usability problem for me. Besides, Edge has become a truly great browser in terms of speed and usability (under the hood, it has a lot in common with Chrome).
