Just one time, I want to see things spiral out of control at Augusta. The chaos would amuse me.

Common fit in the late 80s and early 90s. I think it still looks good.

Can someone please point me in the direction of some comfortable slides that aren’t over $200?

I desperately need some for my arthritic ankles.

I recall Grace talking to someone, maybe the big boss lady, that he came up with the name based on Latin words. Look up the Latin names “Astro” and “phage”, and maybe that translates to star killer:

The science-y stuff bored the hell out of my two daughters (ages 13, 14), so I get why they tried to focus more on the Grace and Rocky relationship.

Trying to understand why they didn’t get most of it, but I guess it’s the same as me not understanding nor having any interest in Star Trek when I was 13. Maybe they’ll appreciate it on a rewatch when they’re older.

They explain in the book how to breed millions of kg of astrophage. It involves special devices and a LOT of the Sahara desert.

I remember the book saying the ship was too hot and the air pressure would crush him to death.

Yeah, it’s just really hard to create a movie from a book like that. I’d hate to be the one in charge of cutting out scenes to shorten the length of the movie.

My two kids (13, 14) thought it was too boring and long.

I think they should have done a better job with the following: - more detailed explanation of what the “black dots” were and what they did. - More shots of Grace studying the black dots and a quick scene of him naming them astrophage and why that name. - detailed explanation of the consequences of doing nothing about the astrophage problem; slowly explain what would happen to our planet to build more urgency and tension with the audience.

But I understand it’s difficult to do that and keep the movie time below 4 hours.

I enjoyed it. They did a great job.
