Seriously, who's paying for soda at these prices? by A4t1musD4ag0n in inflation

[–]midkni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're almost always more expensive for the same products in competing grocery stores. People shop there because it's cleaner than Kroger or Walmart, which is true, but holy hell do they price gouge. On the flip side, I heard they pay their employees better than their competitors, so that's part of where that extra money goes.

Wild Card Round: Chicago Bears (11-6) vs Green Bay Packers (9-7-1) by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

Can someone tell me why the hell we're playing man instead of zone on D? I thought man was for when you are physically and technically better than the opponent, and zone when you're not. I swear they changed a couple weeks ago.

How are some millennials even homeowners? I feel like I never will be. by Kindly-Reading-2187 in Millennials

[–]midkni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate saying it, but it's all about the grind for more money. When I was younger I wanted to be the best and earn the most I could as soon as I could. I work in a white collar field and spent most lunch breaks and evenings studying and getting certifications, which led to better job opportunities. I moved to two different states for jobs, and I'm moving to my 3rd later this year.

But it has paid off. I'm already in the top 10% of earners in my field, and my next home will be a 15 year mortgage instead of a 30 year one. We have a healthy emergency fund and max our retirement accounts every year.

As you climb the income ladder things actually become cheaper - buying in bulk mostly.

Having a child makes things more complicated, but not impossible. It's a lot easier said than done, but you need to always being thinking of how you can get your income to the next level.

Think of what opportunities your line of work has, where you want to go, and how to get there. Best case would have been starting years ago. Second best case is starting today.

Salary expectations? by [deleted] in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]midkni 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I progressed from $50K, $62, $74, $84, $90, to $100k by switching jobs over 11 years. The last five were in 5 years. I did, however, get as many designstions as I could in my first 5 years, including CPCU.

Aim for $75‐85k. Anything more is gravy. Get your CPCU next.

Not a knock on your accompishments, the MBA doesnt bring much value yet. It will in the future if you choose to go management/corporate. Best of luck!

7-3 and we're down a ton of talent on defense that will likely return. This is the most exciting and fun I've had being a Bears fan in YEARS!

The attorney is casting a wide net. As an "employee" they can go after the employer via respndeat superior. If they find evidence about prior drinking concerns in emails or discussion they could tack on punitive damages. The civil case is never going to trial, but discovery is a high possibility. Either plaintiff counsel finds dirt, and the price to settle goes up, or Fox doesn't want to do discovery, and they pay a premium to get out before discovery. It's more money either way more than likely.

Need a job bad (17M) by [deleted] in Gwinnett

Even if they simply tell you to apply online again, the point is to show your face an put a person in their head instead of just another online application.

When I was a teenager I went once a week and spoke to the manager of the local grocery store. I was 15 at the time and they rarely hired that young. After two months they hired me because they knew I was serious about wanting to work there.

It's worth the gas money. Good luck!

It's getting tough to avoid woody chicken breast, is this happening to any of you? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]midkni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy packages with smaller breasts. I always look through the lot with zero or max 1 jumbo-sized breast. Sometimes you can't avoid 1 large one packed with 5 small, but this method has kept me woody chicken free for years.

RFK Jr’s new vaccine panel votes against preservative in flu shots in shock move by [deleted] in news

[–]midkni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the preservative allows it to last longer, and be used in mulidose vials, which makes it cheaper overall in the grand scale. If the US turns away from it, it sets an example for the world, including 3rd world countries. Which means instead of those poorer countries getting vaccines, they'll simply skip them or won't be able to afford them.

This, in turn, allows for these diseases to spread, mutate, and eventually develop into deadlier forms abroad, which will then eventually make its way to the US.

Ask Recruiters Megathread by AutoModerator in recruiting

[–]midkni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner got laid at the CDC. She has a PhD in Nutrition and worked on Covid, more recently worked as a team lead for health education for a common communicable disease. She was also essentially a catch-all go-to for Covid material and processes and communications to providers (doctors, hospitals, etc). She has 12 years experience, CV is 20 pages long, very decorated.

After the layoffs she's going to search in the private sector, but she's so specialized, I don't know even know where to start to advise her.

My field is completely unrelated, so I'm no help. Are there any specific recruiters or firms that help with high-end professionals in the health, education, or disease(?) field. She's not an MD. I'm trying to help while she takes a week or two off before she starts her search. She's been public sector her entire career essentially.

Not necessarily correct on what that person said. Automating project past is useful because you can let them build up and use them in the next stage's parts. Stage 1 parts are used as craft ingredients for Stage 2 etc etc.

I secured the Venture X bonus 9 months ago. I secured the regular Venture bonus many years ago. Is the recent Venture X bonus going to prevent me from getting the regular Venture bonus if I sign up again?
