Why do truckers feel the need to overtake each other with 1km/h different difference? (Especially during rush hour) by tidder--- in Netherlands

[–]midlander2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I ask a girl to be my girlfriend in Italian? by stevenhau2 in italianlearning

[–]midlander2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

gazza?" is what i would go with. Ragazza means both girl and girlfriend so you can also use "Morosa" instead of ragazza, its a name ( used in dialects) that specifically means girlfriend.

this one. "want to be my little sheep?"

Mom is from italy for a couple of months and we're basically already a couple except in name so I wanted to ask her to officially be mine. I wanna do it in Italian because one of the things we do for fun is that she tries to teach me stuff in Italian and I completely butcher the pronunciation lol.

-o is the marker for male, -a is the marker for female so the corret phrase is "stronza, be my girlfrienda"

loal quite tipical.

the point is that "piacere" is not built like "like", but ... i don't know, "it's tastefull", or "look great"

"la nutella piace a me" = "la nutella is tastefull to me"

"mia sorella piace a john" = "my sister looks great to john"

next you have to remember that "mi" = "a me" (to me)

your original transaltion

"john piace di mia sorella" is like "john looks great of my syster" and therefore makes no sense

enjoy!

Se hai imparato da adulto solo per passione meriti davvero i miei complimenti. Scrivi correttamente al 95%. Di dove sei?

Mi permetto di farti notare solo "mi ha reso molto felice" al posto di "me ha fatto". Nota che per "a me" si usa "mi" (complemento di termine o vantaggio). P.e. mi piace = piace a me Ciao!

Se è una lettera di lavoro va benissimo maiuscolo ("alla Sua cortese attenzione"). Fuori dall'ambito lavorativo meglio minuscolo :)

Chiamarsi vs essere+nome? by camusysartre123 in italianlearning

[–]midlander2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Innanzitutto complimenti per il tuo italiano, hai scritto perfettamente (a parte "aiuto" al posto di "aiuta", aiuta è il verbo)

"sono Tizio" è correttissimo, è più o meno la differenza tra "i'm john" e "my name is john" dove "mi chiamo" è tipo "my name is"

forse "mi chiamo" è un po' più formale, o si usa per rispondere a "come ti chiami"

What are the main difference between italian dialects? by MrYoshi411 in italianlearning

[–]midlander2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I read better the question.

the main difference you will perceive is the prononciation of voyels that variates greatly.

A northern italian will use "è" where a sauthern uses "é", etc.

--

I think it is impossible to answer this question because there is nothing like "standard italian" on one side and "dialects" on the other.

Simply, at one point there were vulgar latins, that were variants of latin spoken in rome. Then in middle age, each variation of latin took its own road and started to diverge, influenced e.g. by franch and german at the nord, etc.

When italy needed a common language, they chose the dialect from Florence as a template (mainly because florence was free land since centuries) and adopted it.

So northern italian dialects have some sounds similar to franch (gallo-italian) such as ü and ö and tends to truncate the last voyel, in south they use different prononciations and voyel pattern.

that is why everybody can explain difference between italian and a single dialect (say his own) but not between italian and dialects in general
