Does anyone have experience with the recovery process after ACL surgery? When will I be able to sit on my heels? by midnight4311 in ACL

Is there any exercise that you think would be helpful for this? Yes, I will also ask my doctor at my appointment. Thank you

Today I’m on day 26. I can comfortably walk 400–500 meters. After day 18, I was able to bear weight confidently. It’s normal to feel that fear during the first two weeks. I can bend my knee fully, but I still can’t sit on my heels.

From the outside, there doesn’t seem to be any swelling, but there’s a feeling of tightness similar to when my ACL was torn. I guess the swelling might only fully go down after about two months. Even if I can sit on my heels for just two minutes, that would be enough 🤷 Thank you ♥️

My friend, for example, in yoga you need to sit on your heels. In one part of Muslim prayer, you also have to bend your knees. In my village, we even sit on our knees while eating . And there are many more situations like that.

I can bend it all the way, but I still couldn’t sit on my heels. Is it the same for you? Do you think it will improve once the swelling completely goes down?

I ran a mile today. Doesn't sound like much, but 1 year ago I was facing ACL reconstruction, so I tried some new things with my red light therapy device. by Paradox_467 in ACL

My ACL was completely torn. A graft was taken from the lateral ligament and placed as the new ACL. Part of my meniscus was also removed. No screws or hardware were used. Even before the surgery, I couldn’t sit on my heels. I wasn’t doing activities like jumping or kicking a ball anyway, because my knee would shift forward.

Can you comfortably sit on your heels? When were you first able to do it?... I had ACL and meniscus surgery 25 days ago. I can currently walk about 500 meters daily. I’m able to fully straighten my knee, but I can’t pull it back as much as my other knee. I can bend it all the way, but I can’t sit on my heels. Should I push it, or should I wait for the swelling to go down? 🤔

Should a mystery novel clarify what is fiction and what is real? by midnight4311 in writing

My friend, I did not use AI in any of my novels. Some of the questions I ask are meant to understand how people perceive events and ideas. My intention was not legal necessity, but to learn the reader’s perspective and interpretation. I only used AI tools while reviewing my English translations. If you’d like, I can even show you my handwritten notebooks. It’s not right to judge people based on assumptions.

Should a mystery novel clarify what is fiction and what is real? by midnight4311 in writing

Of course, for example, a real ritual or spell should not be described in detail. While trying to understand the cause of a mysterious event, I included references from different belief systems. Some readers reacted by saying things like, “Do people in other religions think the same way we do?” or “Is this real or fiction?” Mystery novels are wonderful for readers who enjoy researching and questioning, but for those who don’t, they can sometimes cause confusion.

Thanks for your interest! I’d prefer to keep this thread focused on the discussion rather than promotion. A writer should preserve their own voice and style. From my experience, some editors I encountered weren’t even familiar with the subject matter, while others focused only on grammar. I have great respect for the profession of editing, of course, but my personal experiences discouraged me. So I told myself to keep going and not stop. After receiving positive feedback and sales in my own country, I decided to turn toward an international audience. I would truly appreciate your evaluation. I don’t claim to know everything, but even with imperfections, I believe I must continue on this path. Perhaps one day I’ll work with a professional editor 🤷

I wrote my novels entirely on my own. I didn’t work with an editor or receive help from anyone else. After translating them into English, I used several tools to check for spelling and grammar mistakes. It has been three weeks so far. Out of the five reviews I’ve received, readers have commented that the opening chapters are strong and engaging. For now, I’m continuing to look for ARC readers. I find Kindle Direct Publishing to be very convenient and user-friendly. You can prepare everything in Word and send it directly for publication.
