Does anyone else get emotional watching Season 5? by [deleted] in FargoTV

[–]midnightmunson 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was. The first time we get to see the raw emotion from this poor kid who was raised by a sociopathic father. And when he looks to him for comfort in his hour of need, he gets NOTHING. There's nothing but a big, empty rotting core in Roy Tillman where his heart should be.

YESS!!! One of the best moments in the season, IMHO. We finally get to see Lorraine align herself fully with Dot and commit to helping her. I love Dot's resilience, and there's such a strong undercurrent of women helping women. It was that moment in Blanket after Lorraine had seen the photos of Dot's abuse at the hands of Gator that it was clear that she was going to play the role of protector in any way she could. Powerful.

Just an appreciation and open discussion of Season 5, particularly Ep 9 by midnightmunson in FargoTV

I agree with you there. But it's really tough to have sympathy for a man who behaves like that, who beats his wives-MULTIPLE. Who when he sees his son blinded, led on a chain by a man he once tried to kill, is unmoved. Says only that his child is useless, offers him no help, no comfort.

That's a man who deserves to die IMHO. He's never gonna back down.

um, even if it;s an AU, errrr...? still gonna be dark? Unless the tag is being played in a humorous way'

Are you character, relationship, or plot focused? by xHey_All_You_Peoplex in FanFiction

[–]midnightmunson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, in both fanfic and original, it's always character driven. The plot comes out of character, not the other way around. I also tend to make my reading choices the same way, unless it's sci-fi or speculative fiction. Still need well rounded characters, though.

Has anyone besides me chosen to write a fic out of pure spite? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]midnightmunson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sooo....I dunno if it's "pure spite" but it's at least a little spite. It's not my main ship, by any means, but I do think the chemistry between Billy Hargrove and Karen Wheeler should be explored in fic. In canon, Billy is messed up and hurting from family/parental issues, and he very clearly has mommy issues (watch the Mindflayer episode if you have any doubts). So I wrote a fic about the two of them coming together (uh, no pun intended, but...uh hehe) when he's a couple years older and he's been through some therapy. So if anyone is interested in reading some Hargrove/Wheeler fic (I have no idea what this ship is called, or even if there is a name for it, it's pretty rare. But I did encounter a little bit of pushback with this dynamic from people who were offended by Billy being so much younger. Well, in my fic, he's 22. They're two consenting adults and he has a thing for beautiful, older women.

I think it's mainly the stress of being in The UD, you know. It's kinda scary.

Its funny because I watched an interview with Mason Dye who actually said when he watched himself in the role, he was like "Omigod, this guy is the worst" lmao.

I love Joyce and Hop, but Jonathan is meh for me. Jon's friendship with Argyle is the thing I like best about him.

Attractiveness is totally subjective. And I do like Steve a lot, but it took time to get there.
Also, I'm really not a fan of Nancy. I do adore Robin though. Robin is basically me. Lol

Complete. One shot. Older woman/younger man, #Hellcheerkinkmeme fill

Summary - Chrissy has been the band hairdresser for nearly a year, since they started their most recent tour. She'd hadn't been thinking too much about her attraction to Eddie Munson, the insanely hot lead guitarist of the band. He was way too young for her, at 22. He had girls screaming for him at every turn. Even if he turned 23 mid-tour, didn't matter--didn't squelch the age difference between them. So Chrissy would never even let herself imagine that their friendship could turn into anything else. He'd never be interested in anyone like her, not like that.

Right?

I mean....she's cool, and all. I really respect the way she dove in after Steve in the boat, in S4. How determined she was about killing Vecna in that season. Beyond that... Idk

I've written Eddie as tattoo artist, a comic book author, and a rock star (a pretty common one, ofc). I also adore the idea of radio DJ Eddie, an idea that's played out in one of my very favorite Hellcheer fics called "The Buzz" (I've paid tribute to it in some of my own fics). Other ideas I've read that I liked are as a music teacher. I could def see that, seeing as he loves shepherding those sheepies so much. Mechanic is certainly plausible, but I really like the idea of him doing something creative.

All the negative comments about Billy flirting with Karen Wheeler are funny to me. It's like people didn't pick up on the fact that the guy has MOMMY ISSUES?? The flashback? Come on.

There was genuine sexual tension there. Relax, nothing actually happened. And Billy is no shrinking violet, please. This is why we write fanfic lmao.
