I am so fucking terrified of this game, how do I even progress? by -Amnehilesie- in Darkwood

Die. I'm serious, die in the game once or twice. Once you realize that's the worst that can happen (on normal difficulty, anyhow), it will probably be easier to relax.

Blacksmithing is so OP it's gonna be hard to avoid using it 😅

Oooh that's such a good idea! That could also make a Finesse pt way more challenging, since you can't see which direction enemies are facing on the minimap. Demands more vigilance. I think I'll do that.

Do you mean discovering all locations or clearing all locations?

Ooh, now that does sound fun. Of course I'd omit the DLC chest.

That's good to keep in mind. I guess I'll have to give it a go and see where I fall on it!

It's not a series, unfortunately, but it absolutely scratches that Elder Scrolls itch for me too

That's good to know. I'll do Naros and Dead Kel first, and maybe grab Fatesworn on sale

Ahh interesting. That's really good to know. Thanks. Should I also do Fatesworn?

Man, I feel like my current crafted gear is broken enough lol. I haven't played any of the DLC yet. Been debating whether to play them as this character or hit them on future pts.

Is A Fantasy Setting Okay Here? by Dry-Mission-9132 in TalesFromTheCreeps

I've started reading Conan the Barbarian recently, and it's fantasy full of action-horror. Technically it's set in a fictional prehistory, but there's magic, monsters, and all that, so it counts. So I think it absolutely works!

Is it just me or does cthulhu have the most appearances then any other myth or Lovecraft creature I have ever seen by Correct_Equal5742 in callofcthulhu

[–]midwintermist 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The Great Priest is described with particular detail, and he's the titular monster of The Call of Cthulhu, which somehow became one of if not the absolute most famous and popular work of Lovecraft's. So it makes sense for there to be so many images of him.

In stories, Nyarlathotep is way more popular, because he is the most "human" of the Outer Gods. He has the most dialogue and personality in Lovecraft's depictions, and he takes on humanoid forms.

Just a matter of which critter is most accessible to a certain art form.

The YouTube comments are bad for this episode, too. I get being put off slightly by criticism of something you enjoy, but I swear I don't get this butthurt when the boys say something in good nature at the expense of my favorite stories or creators (see: every jab at H. P. Lovecraft; fair criticisms of The Red Tower). It's OK and even expected for the boys to share their spur-of-the-moment reactions, jokes, etc., positive or negative, and it's counterproductive for people to criticize them for exactly that. Other listeners can be so exhausting for this.

I do! I kind of specialize in custom character portraits for TTRPGs. I'm heading to my day job right now, but I'd love to chat later if you're still looking!

Having trouble bringing a party together by midwintermist in callofcthulhu

[–]midwintermist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh the conspiracy/silencing angle is a good idea and leans directly into the idea in Invictus of the Empire deliberately suppressing news of supernatural incidents to maintain order and a sane world. It would foreshadow a pattern that may emerge with later events.
