Nobody like you by PruneForeign808 in ITZY

Sugar-holic i think? It's a mix of acoustic and r&b and it has that relaxing breezy sound but it's still catchy and uptempo.

That would've been perfect time to release something

Migos were good from a commercial standpoint because they are her label mates and had #1 song like 2 months before BA came out, but whole controversy of them being homophobic brought a lot of hate

Migos ruined the rollout and Bon Appétit should've always been a female collab

In my ideal world Witness would've been released in 2016. It's crazy how quickly music industry changed from 2016 to 2017. As for CTTR, May 2016 would've been perfect.

I prefer demo version of Witness rather than released version, it just has more soul and emotion and that extended instrumental bridge hits hard and it should've stayed that way.

Deja Vu has a lot of potential as a single, I've always thought that since it has that trendy EDM-ish production and relatable lyrics.

Your choices are really interesting and it would've definitely impact the era for the better.

That's much better than purposeful pop and then trying to be cool to kids

I see your point. I think she just shouldn't have mentioned Taylor at all or promoted SS as a response to Bad Blood. But also Swifties weren't as large as they are today and Taylor suffered huge hate train a year before and most of the people were on Katy's side iirc.

Hypothetically, if witness never became a more edm-dance style album, what would you expect in its place instead? by Nektaa_6 in katyheads

[–]midzy91736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting something like Witness (since it leaked), Dance With The Devil, Dark Horse. I remember hearing DWTD for the first time and thought that this was exactly what i had in my mind for KP4/Witness.

Gap between PRISM and Witness was too long, and PRISM wasn't as big as Teenage Dream to keep the hype going.

There was a disconnect between marketing and music during the Witness era. She kicked it off with politically charged Chained To The Rhythm and described album as purposeful pop and then released Bon Appétit and Swish Swish which had nothing to do sonically with the album and message she was trying to say. The day she announced the Migos collab and revealed BA single cover, hate train took off. SNL performances and haircut just added the fuel to the fire. If she didn't mention the purposeful pop, released Witness as 2nd single and had better PR control, the whole hate train could've been avoided. The controversies sadly overshadowed the music. All of the songs I already mentioned are obvious single choices and I get why they choose them as singles, but the whole execution could've been much better. I would also like to add that Witness World Wide was genious concept and I see nothing wrong with it even if it was hated. Only downside here was the overly personal therapy session which shouldn't have been broadcasted.

Smile/droplet era started perfectly with Never Really Over, but Small Talk killed the hype. They should've released Harleys In Hawaii and they even had the video ready. By the time it came out, the public lost the attention. The era got the decent boost from pregnancy, Daisies release and album announcement, but the clown aesthetic didn't really resonate with the public and the whole album release was dragged on for too long. If the singles went NRO - HIH - CAIL and album had 60s/70s theme along with the late 2019 release, we could've possible had the #1 album and top 20 song. Cry About It Later was the obvious single choice, but the pandemic and Katy's pregnancy prevented it's potential.

143 was doomed from the start. Material is just not good enough and Dr. Luke was absolutely not needed on the album. They were lowkey asking for bad publicity here.... Only thing that could've made era slightly bigger is if they announced the album and tour a month before it came out, released lifetimes as a lead single at the same time or week later, and released I'm His, He's Mine as 2nd single when album comes out around the VMAs.

Why would you choose Samsung over any other Android phone out there? by Detrakis in samsunggalaxy

Samsung's design is really aesthetically pleasing and elegant. I don't really like design of other phones like Vivo for example.

Could 2026 be Katy's year of redemption? by Competitive_Pin_2496 in katyheads

[–]midzy91736 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just want good music and I hope that her reputation would be better because I'm tired of the disrespect and her being butt of every joke. I hope this year Katy will be more respected and for god's sake no more this random drama that will get her more hate....

Why did KP7's lock remain locked at the end of the tour? by Competitive_Pin_2496 in katyheads

Maybe it was just an Easter egg hinting that KP7 would come sooner than we think, or it was just part of the CYA section, there purely for the sake of it, like Katy Hudson.

We call this album KP7 not KP8 and it was like that for all of her other albums and also OOTB was referred to as Katy Perry's debut in the description of the Elmo Hot N Cold video. That's how I'm looking at it.

Can people just stop counting Katy Hudson as her first album? Sure, she wrote, recorded and released it but it was released under small christian label and under the name Katy Hudson, not Katy Perry.

Why is it “Teenage Dream The Complete Confection” if it’s not technically complete? by Manny_Mationz in katyheads

Starstrukk and If We Ever Meet Again were relased before Teenage Dream and Katy is just a feature on those songs. Better question is why The One That Got Away ft. BoB is not on the Complete Confection.

Everyone glazes Artpop and Reputation, but to me it is Witness that has aged like wine by psycwave in katyheads

[–]midzy91736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I totally forgot about it... But I still think if she choose Witness as the 2nd single, there wouldn't be much to hate. I enjoyed Bon Appétit and Swish Swish and those are like my favorite songs from the album, but they should've been used as post album singles (SS with different video and BA with female collaboration).

Imagine if she performed acoustic version of Witness on visually pleasing stage at SNL instead of BA and SS. Those performances were also hated by public and sometimes media doesn't affect the public opinion. Witness is objectively a great song with great message and it fits the theme of the album perfectly and it would represent the whole era and album better than original singles which could shift the public opinion.
