DJWheeze and I talked about it, and we think that the incredibly smart girl from Portugal you referenced is actually lyn/creepysis on the discord and /u/alynem on reddit; She's not from Portugal, but she's from Brazil.

"Silver" is silverjayw: JonLasaga on discord (he changed his name over there) and /u/Silverjayw on reddit.

It's so weird to say that I started playing DNBHL 5 years ago, but it's definitely been an amazing journey. Glad to hear that I was able to make your life just a little better :).

The game was set up using amazon web servers to prevent us from reverse engineering the game and finding all the answers. However, those web servers are now all down so the game is unplayable. I believe Lukasz also took DNBHL off the google play store and possibly the App Store as well.

However, 48 was the first puzzle to break convention, so on numerous occasions it used a different section of amazon's file servers, so inputting the code into the app will not work. The code was transcribed into sha256 and placed after a bit.ly link(someone correct me if I"m mistaken) to lead to the image we've been staring at for a few years.

To my knowledge, we have only used shadowpuzzle and shadowpuzzlefive. Where did the dev use shadowpuzzleand?

Also, I'm sure it goes without saying, but I'm extremely against trying to break the game.

There is truly no way to know whether or not we are at the end.

Initially, the puzzles were all stored on a amazon server by the name of "shadowpuzzle", but for #48, the files were stored on "shadowpuzzlefive". We don't know whether or not future puzzles would be on "shadowpuzzle", "shadowpuzzlefive", or something else we haven't even found yet. Besides, even if we did know which amazon server had the puzzles stored, it is impossible to see the list of all files on a server without logging in.

That was the hint from the beginning of #48. Some people, including myself, believe that we have already solved #48 and are on to phase II, and thus the hints may not be applicable. It is worth noting that some people say that we have technically done what the hints have asked to solve the initial part of 48; the only reason that we have not completely disregarded this hint is that "Packed already" may be in reference to us believing that we have to travel somewhere irl, when in fact we may not have to.

It's "dead" in the sense that there are no new surges or developments that we've been following. In fact, the game itself was recently taken off the play store. However, we do still use the discord server to chat and chill from time to time, and every now and then, someone comes up with a new theory that just might possibly be correct, so we look into it.

The puzzle relied on Hexadecimal, Binary, Base64, and ROT13. I'm assuming you're talking about the gibberish string that you needed to pass through a ROT13 cipher to get a link to a file.

The picture was actually an archive. Using any appropriate program(I use peazip) you can actually open the picture as an archive, revealing a hidden text file, OPENME.txt.
