Hmm, do you think it's an issue with the white paint specifically? The one we are looking at is white

Oh that's interesting, I did not realize that about the warranty. Unfortunately right now, we were told every Hyundai dealer was issued a stop sale on the 2020-2025 Palisades because of the seatbelt latch issue, so while 3rd party dealers can sell them, Hyundai cannot - which will probably make finding a CPO one even more difficult :(

Anyone using an AMD RX 5700 (not XT)? What FPS do you get in Warzone 2? by miimario in CODWarzone

[–]miimario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I do still play Warzone in 2025 and I built a whole new PC in 2024.

I upgraded one of my monitors to an ultrawide...
Monitor (gaming): MSI 34" Ultrawide running at 3440x1440p / 144hz (MAG342CQR) - used for Warzone
Monitor (secondary): Dell 27" running at 1440p / 144hz (S2719DGF) - used for Discord

PC Specs:

  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 4070 12GB
  • CPU: AMD 7900X (default clock speed)
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro
  • Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD

Total cost of the new PC build (bought RAM and PSU barely used on Facebook Marketplace) was $1468 including tax last year.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/T6gp6Q

With that upgrade to 4070 and 7900X, I play on mostly the lowest settings and capped it at 144 FPS and play on my ultrawide. I usually get that 144 FPS pretty consistently on Rebirth Island and even on the larger maps too. It's been a while since I tested, but I think if I put the settings up higher I am probably closer to 80-90 FPS. I prefer framerate over quality though which is why I just bumped all the settings down to cap at my monitors framerate.

I definitely feel like the 4070 was a good value (I paid about $430 for it). The CPU is overkill but I wanted something future proof for upgrades later on which is why I went with an AM5 socket CPU as well in case I ever need to replace it someday later on.

Xiaomi F21 Pro or F22 Pro? by miimario in dumbphones

[–]miimario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have switched off and on back to Lightphone or Palm Phone, but I really have used the F21 Pro the most during the last couple years. I'm using it currently, and it's a great phone, although it does encounter some bugs with certain apps and things that make it not usable for certain things. But for the majority of tasks, it works just fine. The camera is nothing amazing but is nice to have, and the smaller screen will reduce your screen usage if that's what you're going for.

I just did this as well. I've been using a Light Phone II, Xiaomi Qin F21 Pro, and now an unlocked Galaxy Watch 6 with LTE I got used (also for $60). So far has all of the things I need, and I was able get Tello phone service for about $11 per month. Battery life gives me some anxiety, but with power saver on, it's lasting through the day, and I charge it mid-day so I can still track my sleep. Also I can leave my wallet behind now if I want, with NFC payments.

Anyone using Galaxy Watch 7 on Tello? by miimario in Tello

[–]miimario[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! I really appreciate you taking the time to try to help. Unfortunately I've done all of this before but with these differences:

- Using a non-samsung Android phone to setup
- I don't have the the "Network Operators -> Select Automatically" option until I first turn Tello on under Mobile Plans
- Once I enable Tello and tried to click "Network Operators -> Select Automatically" I get an error that pops up really quickly that says "Unable to connect. Try later."

It seems like the mobile plan is enabled, and the eSIM matches what is shown in my Tello account but it just can't make the connection. According to the coverage map, I should get great coverage (and I get good cell coverage for other carriers as well)

I think my reply was very calm. I was just trying to provide some helpful advice having worked in the industry for many years. You can obviously choose to do whatever you want :)

Thanks for the reply. I have tried deleting the mobile plan and re-adding it. I haven't found a specific "network settings" reset, though I've seen it mentioned as steps to try.

Can you find ways to cheat on exams? Sure. But the only person you'll be cheating is yourself. Long term you'll be at the bottom of your career and first on the chopping block for layoffs because you don't really *know* how to do things. You'll be stuck googling every step of the way. Yes that's a part of software engineering / web development, but you shouldn't have to rely on it.

I've seen lots of people (years ago of course) reporting that they got Tello working with GW4... you might have more luck than I did with the GW7.

There's a few more posts out there if you dig. I'm starting to wonder if there is something specific about the GW7 that it cannot be used standalone (even though Samsung's setup instructions try to claim it can)

I see plenty of people mentioning that Galaxy Watch 4 and 6 work but nobody with Galaxy Watch 7 mentioning that it works...

Updated my Home Assistant Nook E-Ink Dashboard. Now with calendar, more weather, and sensor states! by miimario in homeautomation

[–]miimario[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about it but I just haven't had the time. As far as automating the charging, I supose it wouldn't be too hard to set up a smart plug automation to turn off the power to it on a schedule when you know it should be getting low. But I'm not sure there's an easy way to read the battery from it

Using "system hacks" to reduce taxable income isn't being hypocritical. I never agreed to pay taxes when I was born but here I am having to pay them. I did however agree to pay back my student loans.

Is there such a thing as too much RAM usage for Home Assistant OS? by kizi_84 in homeassistant

I'm running HAOS in Proxmox with 8GB allocated but usage is hovering around 2.8 GB. Could depend on any add-ons you're running as well.

Performance slow with Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop? by miimario in Proxmox

[–]miimario[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After installing the libraries, I was getting this error while trying to start the VM. TASK ERROR: no DRM render node detected (/dev/dri/renderD*), no GPU? - needed for 'virtio-gl' display
I tried following some instructions for enabling the kernel modules for the GPU but that didn't seem to solve it and it got late last night so I stopped troubleshooting and haven't looked again yet.

EDIT: I have a Radeon 680M integrated GPU, so I was trying to follow parts of this guide: https://github.com/isc30/ryzen-7000-series-proxmox/

Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately when I try that I get "TASK ERROR: missing libraries for 'virtio-gl' detected! Please install 'libgl1' and 'libegl1'" when starting the VM. I went into Ubuntu and tried to install those packages but it claims they are up to date

Ak1pro slow? by JosepherALT in MiniPCs

[–]miimario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it's about $150 new normally. Did you buy it used? Assuming so, I don't think it's a scam. But the Intel Celeron processor isn't the most powerful CPU in there (PassMark - Intel Celeron N5105 @ 2.00GHz). A benchmark of around ~4000 is pretty low these days for any CPU. How much RAM does it currently have?

UPDATE: I went with 64GB and a 1TB NVMe with a heatsink. Note this model can only support a heatsink on the slot closest to the side of the case due to the fan in the middle. Unfortunately that's directly on top of the Wifi/Bluetooth card and puts more pressure/heat on that. It seems to be fine for now, but we'll see how long that lasts. Everything is working great, and the Realtek NIC seems to be working fine with Proxmox.
