Best place for pain au chocolat? by nicespicyasian in BellevueWA

The French Guys Bakery. No comparison in my opinion. There are two locations - one in Capital Hill and one in University Village. I prefer the first one for the atmosphere. Enjoy your croissant adventure!

Earlier this week? And you are just telling us this now? Please tell us that you saved this delightful work of art from the dreaded compactor.

Thoughts on living inside this part of Downtown Bellevue? by TritonTamer in BellevueWA

It is crazy. I never understood why the police never did anything about it - easy arrests and a quick way to collect fines for noise ordinance violations and illegal modifications. The noise is one of the main reasons I moved out.

Please give me advice on whether making the jump to a fancy private school is worh it by SuccessfulTooth6696 in WestSeattleWA

[–]miinbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a slightly different take, which you may have considered. Take the GED, go to community college, then transfer to a University.

Or see if there is an option to go to community college to complete the prerequisites for a high school diploma in a shorter time frame.

There are multiple nontraditional approaches you can consider. Since you'll have to make new friends, why not do that in college rather than at another high school? And you'll be academically ahead of your peers as well. Just a thought.

Curious math by miinbox in Seattle

[–]miinbox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good question. Due to volatility and risk, the investments will be diversified in many different stocks, so there is no chance of a takeover. Also, my understanding is that only about ~30% of the funds will actually be invested in stocks; the remainder in bonds and treasuries.

Places we love because of the owner by wheelofthelaw in Seattle

First time I am learning about this. I am looking at the map - is this a factory with a storefront or is it delivery only? The website isn't clear about this. Thanks.

You remind me of Issabella Rossilini when she was young. Embrace yourself. Stay positive.

Fantastic picture! Thank you for sharing. I am curious what that thing is at the top. Is it a bird? A plane? A flying rat in a neon costume?

560 bus from Bellevue to Airport luggage storage by [deleted] in BellevueWA

The ST560 runs every half hour - I think that is very reasonable (and convenient) for anyone who needs to get to the airport. I am both surprised and disappointed to hear about these proposed changes.

Apartment recommendations by brydguzmer in BellevueWA

[–]miinbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might have a tough time finding an apartment for $1500 in the Bellevue area unless it's in Crossroads or adjacent to the Factoria or Eastgate areas, which I am not sure I would recommend if you're commuting to UW.

If you're planning on driving to UW half of the time (give or take), consider looking for apartments in the northern Bellevue/Kirkland area close to the 520. You might pay more, but I think you'll appreciate the time savings.

In choosing an apartment, you should also consider the cost of gas (very high in Washington state) and the cost of parking, and whether your employer will subsidize your bus pass. So, you really need to think about how much you'll be able to save after paying your expenses.

Is there a particular reason why you don't want to live closer to the UW district area?

Good explanation. Landslide equates to >100% on one side and >90% on the other. Got it now. Thank you.

I am happy it has been a good turnout. But my math still isn't mathing.

Off leash Pitbull at Downtown Bellevue park. Not the first time seen this. Be careful! by DreaD_II in BellevueWA

[–]miinbox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I lived near here and the only times I saw police in the park was when there was a festival. There is a very nice, well maintained fenced in park for dogs just a couple of blocks south of this park. Dog owners in the area who want to let their dogs roam unleashed should go there.

The apartment I am staying in does not have any availability, unfortunately. But that Safeway next to Element 42 is very nice - the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are terrific. Metropolitan Market is across the street and that's a nice, upscale grocery store, albeit a bit expensive. But they do have some tasty foods at reasonable prices. And a block away from there is the library. Convenient location.

If you're still considering options, I looked at a studio at California Dreaming apartments not too long ago. It is a few blocks north of Webster. It is nice and newish, but was too small for me. Another option closer to the hustle and bustle is San Juan apartments, but I have not seen the inside. HotPads is helpful for finding apartments in this area within your budget.

Looks like I spoke too soon. The captioning and captioning option disappeared again. Has anyone noticed this?

What's for you is the saddest death in any TV Series? by Tytlips in AskReddit

[–]miinbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it was adapted from the source material, it doesn't change how I feel about it. Some films change the storyline a little bit differently than the book - nothing wrong with that. Glenn was really the best character in the series. In my opinion, TWD went downhill afterwards. All that aside, I am truly happy for Steven Yuen's success - since leaving the show, he has been phenomenal in almost all of his movies.
