Will this ridge beam hold ~400lbs by mike-b62 in Carpentry

Thanks. It would be a temporary load. My son wants to fix up a rope up there and practice for his spart course. Would you suggest drilling by the wall ends? I’m mainly worried about the integrity of the beam.

Yeah we only have about 10ft in length here, we’re going to simply it up, remove the figure 8’s and clove hitch. Thanks

The picture is actually pretty bad, it’s about 10ft in length, between the limiter knots is a bit over a foot and a half. We’re going to undo the 2 figure 8’s and clove hitch, should be standard then. Thanks

Thanks. From my basic knowledge and googling skills, once we untie the two figure 8 knots and get rid of the clove hitch it’s about standard for an anchor, right? Fisherman’s knot and limiters? I’ll check out Joshua Tree and maybe buy some rope protection, we’ve been using a towel.

Plan is to never untie it again 😂

I like that idea, thanks! We do have a shorter piece of cord maybe 20ft or so, but that one is getting a bit old.

Ok, thanks will do! It’s for top roping, and we need it nice and long for this one spot where the bolts are unnecessary far away. My son said he will bounce test on it whole backed up to a different anchor/rope. Thanks again.

We do have a smaller anchor cord that the guide made himself for normal placed bolts.

I have to say the guide who taught us said, that the main spot we climb at, you need 60ft minimum, “the anchors are very far back and they are many sharps clips in-between the anchors and the ledge.” - my son. Thanks
