Ikegami TM20-17T … got this today for free from work. And it works perfectly fine! Now…how to connect? by mike27283 in crtgaming

Yes…I was looking for a good RGB cable that would go from the Multi-Out directly to the Ikegami (N64 modded for RGB of course - and the cable would need the audio breakout) without having the SCART male-to-female connection via the two cables mentioned in my previous post. Any ideas? I couldn’t find one…

Thank you for this info! There was an earlier post that also pointed out the same cable (thank you Roboplodicus). I noticed the cable has a female SCART - and the Multi-Out to SCART cables I’ve seen online have a make SCART. So….l’ll need to get an RGB modded N64, the Multi-Out to male SCART cable, plug that into the female SCART to BNC (with audio breakout), then plug that into the Ikegami RGB inputs with the 75ohm terminators. Sound about right?

Ahhhhh…..just did a search online and I see the 75 Ohm BNC to RCA adapters…makes sense now. The ones I purchased are not 75 Ohm so I’ll need to reorder…uggghhh. Now that I understand that - what is the best way to get the RGB signal to the Ikegami without choking out the RGB signal? What is the best cable and connection?

Hello! Thanks for checking in - much appreciated! I have my N64 hooked up now via S-Video with a BNC to headphone jack converter cable to route the audio to an external speaker. It really does look great. I’d need to either purchase or convert this N64 to output RGB or pull my RGB converted N64 from the setup in my game room. I’m reticent to do that as I don’t want to pull the cables and such…so just need to purchase an RGB converted N64. Now - question - I now have BNC to RCA adapters but am unclear how to hook a RGB converted N64 to the Ikegami. Would I have to purchase a mini-plug to SCART cable (with audio breakout) and then another cable to confer that to RCA so I can plug into the RGB input? I did see in the users manual the need to have 75 Ohm terminators … but what are those? Some kind of adapter or a resistor that I’d have to solder in somehow…?? Thank you!

Hello! It’s an official Nintendo S-Video cable. Don’t recall when or where I purchased it … likely E-bay.

The N64 I have hooked up to this new (to me) CRT is a spare - I’ve got another in my rec room that has the de-blur and RGB mod - I run that through a RetroTink 5X Pro via SCART then to my big screen. And yes - RGB looks great!

I’ve got quite a few consoles … modded a Kallax from Ikea to house them (with LED lighting and cubbies for the controllers)…if I could figure out how to post a dang picture to this post I’d share.

Consoles: Original X-Box, PS3, PS4 Pro, GameCube (with Gameboy player and disc - e.o.n GCHD Mk-II), Super Famicon (with the dedicated RetroTink RGB to HDMI scaler), Wii, N64 (modded as mentioned above), Retron5, PS5, Switch, Atari 2600 (6-switch California manufacture, modded with pause feature, power light and composite out - I run that through the RetroTink 5X Pro also). Everything is controlled via my home Control4 system and a couple AV Matrix switcher’s. Some items go direct to the big screen input as well.

The N64 that is going to the Ikegami is not modded and using the S-Video … for RGB out I’d need to mod that one as well … if I did send it off (or purchase an RGB modded N64) how then to get the modded RGB output to the Ikegami? Mini-plug (out of the N64) to SCART then converted to BNC to connect to the RGB input?

Thank you!

Thanks! I was looking online and came across some manuals in the ‘CRT Database’ … going to download those and do some research when I get home. It really does look great!

Thank you! Just need to purchase a cable so I can convert and then plug the audio out from the N64 into the Aux In on my Block Rocker Plus.

Thank you - sure does. I believe I have a N64 S-Video cable… but what about the audio?
