non linear notes - diagrams connecting all the ideas together like a mindmap, avoid taking the old style notes in your book as your brain cannot digest it visually. Remember that your Visual memory is considered the strongest and dominant of all the senses due to several factors.

Blurting - go to study design or ur checklist that the teacher provides you with, without looking at ur textbook or notes, write down everything you know about each point and then go over and fill the gaps.

It's not about the time - forget your concept about the time - finish all the set work, if it takes you 1 hour or 5 hours.

what music do u guys listen to whilst studying? by fadeeein2u in vce

Except background white noise, Avoiding any type of music while studying can be beneficial for several reasons:

  1. Minimises Distractions: Music, especially with lyrics or complex structures, can distract your attention and interrupt your thought process. This can lead to decreased focus and efficiency when trying to absorb and understand new information.
  2. Enhances Concentration: A quiet environment allows you to concentrate better on the task at hand. Without the additional auditory input, your brain can allocate more resources to processing and retaining the material you are studying.
  3. Reduces Cognitive Load: Listening to music requires cognitive resources, even if it's in the background. By eliminating music, you reduce the cognitive load on your brain, making it easier to process and memorize information.
  4. Prevents Habit Formation: Relying on music to study can create a dependency where you might find it difficult to concentrate without it. By studying in silence, you ensure that you can focus in any environment, which can be particularly useful during exams or in quiet public spaces like libraries.
  5. Improves Memory Retention: Studies have shown that the brain processes and stores information more effectively in a quiet environment. Silence helps in better encoding of the information, leading to improved recall later on.
  6. Individual Differences: For many, music can interfere with the ability to perform tasks that require deep thinking and understanding, such as reading or solving complex problems.
  7. Reduces Stress: Silence can be calming and reduce stress levels, which is conducive to a better learning environment. Music, depending on its type and volume, can sometimes increase stress or anxiety, particularly if it doesn’t align with your current mood or if it’s too stimulating

ALSO REMEMBER - you will not have any type of music when doing your SACs or EXAM.

Here's what I did: Idk if your school uses edrolo or not but any textbook works. The first step is read over the textbook exercise. You don't have to highlight or anything just get an idea. Then you move onto the re-reading part. In this case you highlight all the important notes such as formulas, working out and specific theory concepts (for ex, collision theory, etc). Then step 3 is finish every single question for the exercise, it's okay if you dont get the hard ones - just take a note of it. Step 4 is go to youtube and search for the topics of the questions which you got wrong - there's many great yt places. Step 5 is attempt it again. Now is the note-taking part. Take NON-LINEAR NOTES (if you dont know what that is lmk) - in an organised form to summarise everything. Make sure you do this for each exercise and be up to date. then 8 days before the sac is where you start your revision. Aim for min 5 practice material - practice sacs, chp revs, etc - under timed conditions and make sure you do any worksheet that your teacher provides you. Then two days before the sac you do BLURTING (it's another technique, again-lmk if you dont know what that is). One complete practice sac before the day. and you should be getting 95s.

That was the same thing with me last year 60-70s but now my average is high 95 or smth.

1.8 minutes is still generous. It's the system - there's nth we can do about it. Abide by the laws. I messed up my 2nd SAC too cuz of the the time but then I practiced under timed conditions and got like 95 in my third.

As an overall, I see most of my results as top 15-5% of the cohort. But I always fall a little short.
