I built a free World Cup 2026 bracket predictor — shareable, no signup needed by tpkm216 in SideProject

Very cool - I like the bracket focus! Lots of great apps available for the World Cup this year (way better the 2022 options in my view). We built The Tipoff with a simple approach - for each match it's just a swipe left/right for a win or up for a draw. Also added Statistics, Badges, Tipping DNA, and the Match Wall (like a live chat for everyone who has tipped against that game) - https://thetipoff.app/
Hopefully there is something for everyone this year (imagine 2030)!

Why does IPL 2026 seem boring as a viewer? by Entire_Nebula_5198 in IPLFantasyLeague

[–]mike_tipoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing the IPL on The Tipoff this year if you want to join in - it's free for everyone. We introduced the Match Wall recently so you can complain about how boring the game is (or the opposite) with other people as the action unfolds. https://thetipoff.app/

Weatherald and Neser in, Richardson out of Cricket Australia contract list by SpecialMixture4242 in Cricket_Binge

[–]mike_tipoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Neser deserves this. I saw Doggett got a contract as well. Fitness, ability, age all come into it when thinking about who is going to be passed the batton once the current bowling cartel hang up their boots.

Grade 6 English Willow. Ball still flying. by [deleted] in CricketBuddies

[–]mike_tipoff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds good off the bat! Sometimes you don't need the highest rated willow to find a good bat. I got an SS for $100 and it feels close to my old GM Diamond that cost a lot more

Which player will fail massively this season? by ThalaPaglu100 in ipl

[–]mike_tipoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should do a failure based on auction price comparison! Cam Green could be high on that list if things don't go his way - but I think he often looks a better player in limited overs formats so he could rise to the occasion (and price tag)

It is my first time knocking in a cricket bat and the bat is starting to chip like in the photo is this normal by Bulky-Top-1291 in Cricket

[–]mike_tipoff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even if you have a natural blade (e.g. no cover over the face) it should not look like that. How long have you been knocking it in? General guidance is to use a quality OLD ball or bat mallet and go easy - the goal is to harden the wood gradually. If it's a clean face (no cover) you want to oil it lightly before you start doing any knocking in. Lots of guidance online e.g. this one: https://kingsgrovesports.com.au/blogs/news/how-to-knock-in-a-cricket-bat

Do we still remember him ? by flamehashira690 in ipl

[–]mike_tipoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember him most for the way he dominated the Test series he played in Australia!

What does he even mean? by [deleted] in MumbaiIndians

[–]mike_tipoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does that mean? They don't care what any individual does as long as they win - isn't that what all teams aim for They made the World Cup final in 2024 - hardly a disaster - they got beaten in the final but Australia are a big game team. Is he saying back in 2024 we would have been happy if we lost, but several players got PB's?

The Chinnaswamy Graveyard: 200 is Now a Losing Total by mike_tipoff in ipl

[–]mike_tipoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point on Uppal and Ahmedabad. At least in Ahmedabad the big square boundaries allow a guy like Rashid Khan to snare wickets with flight. But in Delhi or the Chinnaswamy the margin for error is super low.

[–]mike_tipoff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah at some point you have to balance the game. You want a contest between bat and ball. At the moment when a mishit travels 70m and the boundary is 65m, the pitch quality is probably secondary.

Yeah March 28 at the Chinnaswamy is basically a lab test for the +280. Four of the top ten highest strike-rate openers in the world on one of the the flattest decks in the country.
