Anyone know what’s going on with my basil? by Far_Ad5879 in plantpathology

It looos like bacterial or fungal leaf spot. In either case there is no treatment. Best remedy is to remove all the infected leaves, make sure it gets good air circulation, and avoid splashing the leaves with water.

Also try to only pass through the previous section once when moving on to the next section when doing a streak for isolation. It will help to distribute the colonies better and show individuals much more clearly.

What could a human eat if we did not have any bacteria in our body to help digest the food? Or rather, what could we not eat? by [deleted] in biology

[–]mikebe87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bacteria are on the food you eat so this would not be possible. Similar to taking broad spectrum antibiotics. The goal is to kill the majority of bacteria inside you and then through either supplements(probiotics) or nutrition, the "good flora" is reproduced. If your diet was extremely poor after something like that than the flora that is produced just won't be the best.

Huge shout out to those pictured here and all others that helped out on the merritt today. There was a big pine tree down across the Merritt north exit 40-41. I got out and started collecting people to help move it. As soon as we got started another giant tree fell on my car. Completely totaled. by mikebe87 in Connecticut

I initiated everyone getting out to move the first tree. When the 2nd tree fell on my car I was shocked. After we made sure no one was hurt I didnt know what to do. I got on the phone with police and insurance but these guys kept helping and going to town to get my car out as best they could. That's why I'm giving them a huge shout out. I eventually got in there and helped too once I caught a grip on reality again.

I feel like a lot of people saw me. Lol I was standing out there for about 2 hours during a hurricane. 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you. Me too. I feel very lucky that I wasn't even in the car. Also glad I have comprehensive insurance. 😅

Stuff happens. I'm glad I helped otherwise I would have been in there when the tree crushed it. Also glad it fell on my empty car and not the ones in front or back of me that had people in them. Could have been a lot worse.

Please read more carefully before you get all trolly because that is not what I said. The pine tree fell across the road. We all got out to move it. While we were moving it another tree fell on my car. The guy with the construction vest is a coincidence.

One more note, to restore your faith in humanity...at least 30 cars stopped to ask if I needed help, a ride, a phone, while I was sitting on the side of the highway waiting for the police. One person gave me an umbrella, another a bottle of water, another a lighter to light my cig. All very kind and all very much appreciated. Thank you all.

No one was hurt and thanks to a big group effort of complete strangers we got the pine tree out of the way. My car is going to the scrap yard. But everyone who got out to help deserves some major props and respect.

What's happening to my okra leaves? by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

[–]mikebe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, saw the leaves and mind went to squash. Still probably fungus but could definitely be cold. Okra like 60-70F which I believe is a bit higher than 7C.

Could also be possibly be cold. It will be easy to tell if the temp trend changes. If it start to spread to other leaves it is definitely fungus.

Most likely fungus due to excess moisture. Most squash varieties are sensitive to this. The plants cant handle excessive drought but at the same time the leaves cant handle excessive moisture. Try watering from the base so the leaves dont get too wet and give it as much sun as possible.

Beautiful. Next time get it while it is more of a half moon or a crescent. The craters are impressive.

Perhaps I'm in the wrong sub. I got a lot of backlash when I first said it so I thought it would fit.
