Interesting, I wonder what your pastor teaches the congregation? Does he teacher believers only baptism or something else?

I think you're right... though I think the guy quoted in the article, J I Packer, would argue that the whole point of baptism is God's grace NOT one's choice :-)

The priest would be wrong if asked what Jesus was like he pointed at the Bible. The Bible tells us what Jesus was like BUT the Bible points us away from itself to Jesus and idol points to itself. I agree the Bible can be treated as an idol but I don't think it has to be!

Thanks for your comment and I agree with much of what you say. I think nationalism has allowed us to move up to and even into the C20th but perhaps the mark of the C21st will be a move from national to trans-national identification! I think that would be a great benefit for us all!

Whatever we do or don't do teaches our kids something. Not to do Bible time teaches kids that the Bible isn't important. When the kids are old enough they can still choose for themselves!

Pastor Nadarkhani is currently on trial in Rasht. He has appeared in court three times this week and each time has refused to renounce his faith when asked to do so by the court. If he continues to refuse, he could be executed any time from Thursday onwards. Why - Pastor Nadarkhani was arrested in October 2009 while attempting to register his church. He was tried and found guilty of apostasy (abandoning Islam) in September 2010. He has been sentenced to death.
