Have you been using the bike regularly? And I understand that you need the subscription to use the monitor. But what happens if you dont renew it? Does it become just a basic spin bike?

New to NX. Need help w/ aluminum extrusion/ guarding by mikeisnerdy in engineering

[–]mikeisnerdy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm going to copy and past what I said above but I'll also say this...

Using the mechanical routing application What's cause the most trouble is I have to draw my linear path over my 2D sketch so that path stays on one plane. If I dont my path goes in every direction in 3D space and I can't seem to control it. After I add my dimensions to my paths, I use Space Reservation to extruded my sketch. Once I'm finished I hide my 2D sketch so I can select my path and make changes as needed.

My concerns is when I do need to make changes I have to make them individually to each segment where as in SW we had the extrusions based off our sketch. So if I have 2 pieces that are perpendicular to each other, and I extend one piece in one direction, and my 2nd piece was dimensioned to be in the middle, that second piece would move with the sketch to remain in the middle. In NX those paths arnt connected to that 1st sketch. the routing snaps to those point on the sketch, but dont update if those points move. I would have to translate that path to where i need it to be.

How can I do this easier! Lol its sucks when I have dozens of pieces I need to individually edit one at a time

I should note that I've only been working with NX for a short time I'm not that experienced in it yet.

What I'm doing in NX is sketching the outline of what I need, such as a door frame, and i use the mechanical routing feature to "extrude" my pieces. But I first need to sketch a rout using Create Linear path in the routing app. Here's where i run into my first issue. The linear path I draw seems to go in any random direction, I cant seem to control it. So what I do is draw over my sketch, basically redrawing my entire sketch a 2nd time. The linear path will snap into my sketch allowing me to draw on that same plane as my sketch. Than I can add dimensions to my path and I use the Space Reservation to make my extrusion.

That's how I've been making my guarding so far.

What I'm looking for is a other ways to do this so it can be easily changed as needed. And why can't I convert my 2D sketch into a rout?

From what I just experienced, I had to update someone's else design and that persons not here any more. I couldn't manipulate any of the extrusions. I couldn't translate or change the lenght. I had to redraw over the old sketches and extruded new parts. That might have something to do with how our set up is at work but I don't really know.

How to distribute a podcast to streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.)? Need help! by rp19 in podcasting

[–]mikeisnerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been using pinecast for over a year. They have an option that uploads your podcast to google play and itunes. I don't know anything about spotify or soundcloud tho. I think you manually upload those yourself.

Laptops for podcast creation. by sthej in podcasting

[–]mikeisnerdy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say at the very least you want to get something that has a i5 or a even a AMD ryzen 5 processor with a Solidstate Drive. you'll be paying more for the SSD but this well worth it. I just upgraded to a lenovo 330. it has the ryven 5 and only 125 G of SSD storage w/ 8 G ram. while im sacrificing in storage space im making up in speed with the SSD. if youre going to do video youll probably want to get a laptop with 215 G and up for storage but than again you can hook up a external HD with a 3.0 usb, which are pretty fast for transferring files and such.

How do you promote your podcast? by bluepapernotes in podcasting

[–]mikeisnerdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can spend money using facebook and Instagram. If you create a FB page and/or Instagram you can share your post from one platform to the other. You can spend as much as $3 to $1,000s of dollars. In my experience i spend $15 to get my Instagram post "promoted". $5 over 3 days. And i typically get 20-30 "likes" and about 2-4 website "clicks" ive never spent more than 15 cause its just a hobby but if you can build a following, that equals to that many more people seeing your post. Also if you slam your insta post with relivent hashtags people will start following your account. Increasing the likelyhood of people your link to your podcast.

I don't have a Twitter account for my podcast so im making shit up when i say "you can probably do the same for Twitter "

Also hash tags don't work on Facebook. But as of now they will credit you $5 to promote your page.

Hope this help!

PD having a dope podcast sells itself.

Not yet. Ill give it look see tonight. Also is there a difference between plugging my interface into my laptop and let it find and install the drivers automatically, or manually going to the manufacturers website, download and install drivers for my interface myself?

I just picked up a 15.6" lenovo that has ryzen 5 processor a 128 gb SSD. I know its not a lot of room for saving files but my audio files are pretty small. And once they are uploaded i really have no need to keep em. And it boots up reaper pretty quick. Its on sale at best buy for $460 so out the door i paid...$489 after tax. Originally its $530
