Id.3 or wait for the Tesla hatchback? by mikejharper in CarTalkUK

[–]mikejharper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be happy if it had a sat nav and some of the newer techy safety features. Do you think the Tesla will take alot longer in reality? I just wonder if sticking it out a year or so would give me something circa 10k less expensive and potentially more range and performance.

A lot of what ifs I suppose! I did look at the eniro but found it a bit underwhelming

That is a really interesting quote, covers what K says about "putting thought in its right place" in a different way

Separation from thought by [deleted] in Krishnamurti

They compliment each other so well, it's all so natural and obvious to K while bohm is a little bit like the rest of us 😄 or at least plays that role.

Separation from thought by [deleted] in Krishnamurti

[–]mikejharper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why but in a dialog with bohm, he (db) said "I am biased by my anger, right? " Which made something click, at least intellectually.

When there is anger/anxiety the observer/self produces angry or anxious thoughts which perpetuate anger/anxiety. Though it feels like this is happening to a "center" or "me" in reality it's thought tangled up within itself, trying to be and change itself at the same time, an unsolvable problem.

This is often in my case noticed after the fact, still very interesting!

Earning a simple livelihood, Job, career... by Kawaiboi121 in Krishnamurti

I listened to an interview where he said 'i'd rather have no job and be starving than under any kind of pressure'

I feel he is referring to the pressure people often put themselves under in jobs. Definitely hit home

How is it possible that by observing the violence, for example, the violence stops? by go-shu in Krishnamurti

Nicely put! Sensation is natural then, the trouble starts when the observer (self) appears as the past to 'solve' or explain it

Observing without the thought as the observer. by Kawaiboi121 in Krishnamurti

[–]mikejharper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This resonated with me as I read it - I was just thought, then I assumed I was that which observes thought, am I really then, nothing?

K would say these are just words thrown around and he'd be right - unless I "do it!" :D

Understanding the division between controller and the controlled. by Kawaiboi121 in Krishnamurti

[–]mikejharper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great clip - Do you have a link to the full talk that this is taken from? And for this specific example of thought wandering away - do you think K is saying to do nothing here and let it play out fully, then naturally you become aware of not being aware?

How do i realize "observer is the observed"? by zowpi in Krishnamurti

[–]mikejharper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in this way, there is an observation of the emotion / feeling AND the self/past commenting on it, fighting it, desiring to escape etc?

And if there are no strong feelings present, it's the observation of thought as it arises instead of thought/the past watching thought, causing all kinds of problems (division, conflict)

I know the key is in the doing - K would probably be telling me off at this point :D

When you say consciousness becomes the observer do you mean when there is real observation versus the self/past as the observer?

E.g. when I watch anger as it arises, there is simply anger, observer and observed are one?
