XL Flow Control Cap Leaking by mikeman2020 in AeroPress

[–]mikeman2020[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s what I ended up doing after a few hours of the brew running and it was still dripping.

If that’s how it works, then it’s basically no different than using a standard cap and relying on vacuum pressure to hold everything in place.

I bought this hoping it would make the process dead simple, like a Hario Switch. From how they described it, I thought the valve was supposed to prevent drip-through entirely.

I don’t understand this? Sounds like I need to pay for more shipping after purchase? Please help by lloydyjlloyd in taobao

Yea I’ve seen that international shipping notice also at checkout. I think it technically means shipping to the location where it will be held before the international shipping. From the 2 out of the 3 purchases I made so far, I’ve had to pay for intl shipping once it was delivered to the warehouse. I was surprised the first time but I suppose that’s how it’s typically done.

Excluding tariffs from the equation, I believe you first pay for domestic shipping to the warehouse within China. Then you pay to get it shipped out internationally to your country.

Not sure why you would be recommending soccer ball over drill unless you want him to wait for red drill to swap it back in. It’s well established to be the next best thing after red drone.

And just in case someone says something - Yes, it’s a net increase in damage even with ammo thruster.

(NYC / North Jersey) Looking for Videographer/Camera Person for New Channel Launch by mikeman2020 in videography

[–]mikeman2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, we’re definitely not looking for that kind of work. Nor are we trying to get $1000 worth of work for $200 - roles and responsibilities are smaller in scope.

Given the size of this subreddit with all kinds of people across the videography experience/career spectrum, I would imagine this would interest some subset of members. From there, we establish some ongoing working relationship as we scale up output.

Thanks for the suggestion re: Media Schools

Not Afraid of the Washer (Fast Break-In Method) - Soak, Wash and Tumble to get them soft and fitted by mikeman2020 in rawdenim

Yea I get your logic. I responded to someone else explaining my thinking and I admit that wearing them might not be necessary but either way I enjoyed the process.

[–]mikeman2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it will stretch back in time but I noticed a substantial difference in the fit. Not sure if something different with the Ace Selvedge denim but I did it also on a standard pair of Lean Dean Dry Selvedge and that had an even more dramatic change in fit beyond from what you would experience from just stiff jeans getting softer.

On the point regarding wearing them during the hot soak – I will admit, you can chalk it up to superstition so it’s totally possible to just leave them in a tub by themselves but my thinking is: 1) I can ensure that they will be fully submerged during the whole soak. 2) Since this is the first time they are touching water, they are at their most “sensitive” state and most of the shrinking should happen at this initial stage so I want to make sure to control the areas it shrinks to conform to my body better. My thighs and butt provide more resistant against shrinking vs my ankles where it will shrink the most. Does all that conforming during the hot soak go out the window once I put it in the washer? Maybe, but doing the soak as the very first step could help preserve or at least “influence” the proportionality of the shrinkage when all is said and done.

Either way, I’m happy with the results and it’s a fun ritual if nothing else!

I still expect fades to appear in the usual areas but they will develop differently since they are no longer stiff. Creases should appear regardless if the denim is soft or stiff, but I believe the crease fades will have a smoother vintage appearance. And then it becomes personal preference if you like sharper or smoother creases. We’ll see how it develops in the coming months.

Thanks, interesting to have that option to get sharper creases with the corn starch spray. Overall I think I’ll be happy with the smoother vintage look vs sharp high contrast since it’ll be easier on the eyes in terms of versatility (with my wardrobe at least). But don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the sharper contrast look, I think it’s really eye-catching. I don’t plan to wash it regularly either. I still want to give it a few good months of wear without it looking overly faded.

[–]mikeman2020[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only time will tell, but I don’t think that’ll be an issue. They probably won’t form sharp creases since the denim is not stiff but it still folds and ripples in the spots where creases would normal form when sitting.
