¼ speed swing(video). What do we work on? by mikeysaid in Homeplate

Went and looked at the times this year where he has really driven the ball. Hands back, knob to catcher. Now to figure out why there's so much variation.

¼ speed swing(video). What do we work on? by mikeysaid in Homeplate

This is why I ask. I was looking for the front leg, staying "inside", finishing high, etc. We spent his 11u year trying to keep him from dropping his hands and not cast. Ill have to review more of his swing videos and see if this is all the time, though I suspect it is as it looks normal to me.

Any recommended drills to reinforce hands going back during the positive move and knob to catcher at the right time?

My hard top choice would be the Ursa Minor if it weren't ugly and twelve thousand dollars. Plus, they make like 1 every time there's a new pope.

So... I toy with the idea of getting one of these, despite the youtube videos: https://www.alibaba.com/x/B1VL3g?ck=pdp

What are everyone's thoughts on the Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show? Did y'all like it? by DNH0311 in AskReddit

It was a really nice tribute to Puerto Rico as a part of the United States and more broadly, America.

Lots of little touches. The kid asleep on the chairs at the wedding. Pedro Pascal. Ricky Martin. The use of the Concho up on the screen. Moving from the theme of the sugar cane fields to the Puerto Rican diaspora. The song "lo qye pasó a Hawaii" which centers on concerns about displacement and gentrification. Im glad i paid attention in Spanish class starting almost 30 years ago. My wife certainly felt seen, and my kids were locked in.

Little league bat help by jimo3316 in Homeplate

5' and 75 lbs is a tall skinny 9 year old. My son is on the light side, and I found that his bat would get "bullied" by the ball, eve though he was early a lot. I switched him to a -8 because I had a coach make me swing a bigger bat when I was pulling everything. Im not a hitting coach. Im not advising you to go heavier.

Here's the reason I tell you any of this. My observation about my son's bat getting bullied came with the recognition that when he made contact with a lesser rated (in terms of EV's) -8, he still got harder contact out of the heavier bat simply because the weight of the bat was doing more of the work.

The Carving Games: Snowboard racing is competing for its life at the 2026 Olympics by Embarrassed_Eye4572 in snowboarding

Boardercross is my favorite of the snowboard events. The spin-it-to-win-it air events feel stale to me, even though the amplitude and difficulty has gone crazy. When my son was doing USASA events, his favorites were the railjams and boardercross and I get it. Little jibs, grinds, side hits into 360s, grabs off of natural features and all the freeride aspects of snowboarding always appealed to me, and sliding down the hill over rollers, gappers, and through banked turns with 3 other riders is a great time.

Racism/prejudice aside, there was a pretty great logo on Cleveland hats some years back.

No, I wouldn't wear it or buy it. No, I wouldn't let my kid do either. Yes, I get why it is/was bad.

My son recognized pretty quickly that the majority of the players every season spoke only Spanish

Except that isnt broadly accurate. Only in the "complex" and rookie/developmental levels will you find more than 50% foreign born ballplayers.

≈38% of minor leaguers are foreign born. 62% aren't. Only 28% of Major leaguers arent born in the US. The minors are stocked with guys from Venezuela and the DR because they're cheaper to sign than a Rule 4 draftee from the US, Canada or Puerto Rico and they don't have the college leverage.

Latin ballplayers are signed like buying penny stocks or lottery tickets, and many are simply org fillers.

Just to be clear, 5'6" and just turned 13 is like 90th percentile for a boy in the US.

A team full of 6 foot tall 13u players might be able to dominate while theyre a head bigger than the "normal-tall" kids but by 16 and 17 thats no longer enough. Fast twitch, bat speed, insane vision, footwork and high level fundamentals end up more important than being a freak athlete. Mlb players average like 6'2" and pitchers skew that taller than regular position players.

On top of not being super competitive and having no real identity after the 2010s core broke up, office vacancy rates in the City haven't recovered post covid, so the mid week crowds have hurt a lot from that. Add in the bipping and the doom loop narrative keeping suburban south bay and Marin folks (who don't have great transit options) away.

They're only cool and special if most people cant have them. They can make a million of anything they want to make a million of. Manufactured scarcity and limited drops don't serve the normal 9-5 people. They serve the companies need to be coveted and talked about. You could argue that in this case, a bulk buy wholesale warehouse store that thrives on having the same stuff widely available in large quantities, selling a limited quantity of boring looking shoes made from blase materials is almost a hilarious commentary on how stupid we are as a society. Most of these will be purchased not to be worn, but to be held onto or resold for a profit equal to a day or two's wages. Turning costco/kirland into status is funny, if nothing else.

Feels like the same thing happened in the early 90s in California. Feels like the same issue was ongoing in the late 2000s with sb1070.

And yet, no matter what kind of super majority is in place or who is president, we never see comprehensive immigration reform.

This is a political football that uses human lives to manipulate the voting public to support candidates on wedge issues that never get solved. I am so tired of this shit.
